Super User WRB Posted August 11, 2017 Super User Posted August 11, 2017 Give up 3 months not topping my PB, it's been 21 years since I caught mine....I give up 3 years in a heart beat to catch a 20 lb bass. Tom 8 Quote

clh121787 Posted August 11, 2017 Posted August 11, 2017 No brainer p.b. good chance I may never beat my p.b. of 11.4 Quote
Super User Scott F Posted August 11, 2017 Super User Posted August 11, 2017 Personal best means very little to me. I never weigh fish so I have no idea what my personal even weighed or even which fish was my personal best. 1 Quote
crypt Posted August 11, 2017 Posted August 11, 2017 catching a P.B.,cause anything bigger and I could die a very happy man. not that I wanna go anytime soon.......... Quote
Sword of the Lord Posted August 11, 2017 Posted August 11, 2017 My PB is 6 pounds. I've gotten a few like it since. I'm much happier catching 10-20 in an outing over a couple real good ones. I'll take *** pounders all day and be perfectly content. Quote
Super User N Florida Mike Posted August 12, 2017 Super User Posted August 12, 2017 At first it seemed like a tough choice, but I would take the PB. Theres a lot of other kinds of fish I can catch for the 3 months in Florida!!? 2 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted August 12, 2017 Global Moderator Posted August 12, 2017 PB, not even close. I caught my PB over a decade ago. I'd settle for a new Kansas PB for that matter. Still haven't ever broken the 8lb mark in my home state since coming up 2 ounces short almost 10 years ago. Quote
Fishin Dad Posted August 12, 2017 Posted August 12, 2017 Personal best here for sure. The ice will almost be here in 3 months. It will be time to get the bow out and fling arrows!! Quote
Super User scaleface Posted August 12, 2017 Super User Posted August 12, 2017 If I got skunked for three months I'd quit fishing . 3 Quote
IndianaFinesse Posted August 12, 2017 Posted August 12, 2017 For me, getting skunked for three months would mean not catching anything on about 60 or 70 consecutive trips. As much as I would like to say that I'd take the pb, it would be more fun to keep on catching instead. Now if I had a monster for a pb like WRB, that would be a different story. 1 Quote
Super User Catt Posted August 12, 2017 Super User Posted August 12, 2017 Dang can't believe it's been 10 yrs! But in that 10 yrs I've caught 15 double digits with 4 of those within striking distance of 12.8#. I don't wanna play 1 Quote

MichaelCopeland Posted August 12, 2017 Posted August 12, 2017 Since the question is hypothetically speaking anyways, I would rather catch bass for the next 3 months. My PB is only between 2-3lbs so there's a good chance of still topping that or at at least tying it. I agree with @scaleface, if I didn't catch anything for 3 months I would quit fishing or at least seriously consider it. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted August 12, 2017 Super User Posted August 12, 2017 My PB (smallmouth) is pictured in my avatar. That was January 2005. Still hunting for 12 lbs 1 oz. 2 Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted August 12, 2017 Global Moderator Posted August 12, 2017 Personal best... Deep down Isn't that the real reason we spend the time and money we do? If not then why do we even care about what we use, or where and when we use it? If we didn't care about catching the big one, we would still be useing cane poles with a worm on the end, falling asleep leaning on a tree. Mike Quote
ohboyitsrobby Posted August 12, 2017 Posted August 12, 2017 Well I'd say just catch a bunch of fish. Unless the pb just so happened to be my 5th keeper on Sept 2nd. In which case I'd be 5k to the good and would happily not catch a bass for 3 months and focus on killing ole mossy with my bow Quote
Super User NorcalBassin Posted August 12, 2017 Super User Posted August 12, 2017 PB, especially if a DD Quote

CTBassin860 Posted August 12, 2017 Posted August 12, 2017 Ill take the PB all day. Then just catch bluegill for 3 months. 1 Quote
OCdockskipper Posted August 12, 2017 Posted August 12, 2017 It really depends of what the circumstances of not catching another bass for 3 months is. If you catch your PB & then in the excitement, trip & bonk your head, putting you in a coma for 3 months, then it would be worth it. However, if you catch your PB right in front of a gypsy & she whispers "skunk for 3 months" in your direction, I would have to choose the other. Can you imagine trip after trip, cast after cast without catching even a single bass? Heck, 3 hours without catching a bass is misery, 3 months would lead to dementia. You'd be doubting your skills, spending thousands on new gear to break the slump, even breaking out the helicopter lure to give it a shot. Imagine the frustration when the kid with the Barbie pole catches a bass right in front of you and you haven't grabbed a lip in 3 months. Chilling!! 1 Quote
