I'm looking for rod  recommendations for throwing  shallow/ medium/square bill/jerkbait and lipless  crankbaits. The heaviest crankbait will be around a KVD 2.5 squarebill. I've been eying up the Dobyns Champion CB rods. What do you guys/gals prefer?

Thanks for your opinions,

Billy

Dobyns Fury 705cb save your money to buy the Champion or Extreme for bottom contact rods.

How about a Champion 735CB that's mislabeled for  $170?

Do want glass or graphite? Any. Urgent?

In graphite I'd look at the Kistler KLX Crank Rip Twitch line in the 7' or 7'3" depending on you preference for rod length. I'd also suggest at a slightly higher price point the MB Orochi XX Flatside Special, Spinnerbait Special, or Diablo Spec R. The Flatside Special would be better for lighter baits.

I may may try a Dobyns Champ CB rod soon and they certainly get a lot of love.

I just want a nice crankbait rod. I'm not too concerned about materials or price as long as it does a great job. Price is really not an issue as long as it's under $350 but I don't feel I have to go that high for a nice crankbait rod.

The type of blank material, (Graphite, Glass or Composite) will without a doubt determine how the stick will fish.

This includes casting, setting the hook, as well as fighting & hopefully landing a bass on that rod.

I'd encourage you to both read up on and best case scenario, try a few different ones, in advance of committing your hard earned $$.

Going 300 American on a stick based on anyone's 'recommendation' might not be the best course of action, especially when if comes to crank baits rods which are notorious for being very specific to each angler's style.

The Dobyns Champion series rods would offer all the sesitivity you could use with crank baits. And is well under you price. I have the Dobyns 764 CB RM witch is all graphite and the 736 cb glass witch is a composite . I really think the 764 would meet your needs and make you very happy.

If that size works for you the price is decent.
