Finally figured this out so now I can make my pictures that were 2MBs about 20 times smaller so I can post them.  I have Windows 10 so here's what I do:

1. Open up a new Word document

2. Click on the insert tab at the top of the Word doc menu

3. Click on pictures option

4. Select picture to insert from picture file location

5. Select Compress pictures in the Word document

6. From the compression options that come up - select email - 96 ppi , then click o.k.

7. Right click on picture and rename it and save it to your picture doc files

You can then close out of Word and there is no need to save the Word doc as you have done what was needed with the picture.

The file that was formerly about 2MBs is now about 100KBs

Hope this helps someone.

If someone that is more tech savvy would like to refine my explanation, please feel free to do so.

Good tips. I have moved away from Tinypic to PostImage. Super easy to use and resize photos. Haven't had an issue and no cost to post photos.

For iPhone users, PhotoShrinker app has been working well for me. Very easy to use and fast.

I'm a bit surprised and a little upset that none of the photo/gallery/editors, etc. on my Galaxy S7 will resize pics.  I've used resize web pages, but its a pain.  Lowest rez that I can take pics is about five times too big for BR posting.  I've actually texted pics to myself...three or four times...to get them progressively smaller so I could post them

When I want to reduce a picture file size from iPhone...I just email it to myself via gmail.  When you send the mail - it asks you if you want a small, medium or large file size - I usually choose small.

Open the email once it comes and save the pics...boom - done.

I do the same, but with a text message.
