Super User KU_Bassmaster. Posted March 6, 2007 Super User Posted March 6, 2007 These are the ones I am looking at, but I am open for suggestions. I would like to stay under $70 http://www.minnkotamotors.com/products/chargers/detail.asp?pg=mk110p They have this on sale at BPS for $50 plus a $15 mail in rebate Then I was at Wally World the other day and somebody mentioned they liked these chargers: I noticed they have a marine series http://store.schumachermart.com/ssc-1000a.html Then an Auto series, but it has a setting for marine deep cycle batteries http://store.schumachermart.com/sc-1000a.html What's the difference between these two?? LUVtoBASSFISH Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 Please let me know which one you get. I have been looking myself. To me the minn kota is the best bang for the buck. But what do I know. Please keep me posted Quote
Lard_Bass Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 KU, I am torn between the 2 as well. Right now, I am leaning towards the Minn Kota given the recent rebate. Let me know what you do as well. Quote
Super User KU_Bassmaster. Posted March 7, 2007 Author Super User Posted March 7, 2007 You guys are a lo of help!!! ;D ;D Will do. Quote
IneedAnewScreenName9886691 Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 Don't know if this thought helps. Size of each unit could be a determining factor? I have about 3 different kinds - the Schmaucher (sp?) is my favorite. It has a digital readout and tells you how much charge your battery has before you charge it. Good luck! Quote
Super User KU_Bassmaster. Posted March 8, 2007 Author Super User Posted March 8, 2007 This is the one I ended up with http://store.schumachermart.com/sc-1200a.html I got it at Wally World for around $45. I am a little confused about the amps. Seems like everyone recommends a 10 amp charger. This ones a 12. Is that alright??? Does that just mean it will charge faster?? <--- Is that alright?? Quote
Guest JoshKeller Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 I know its too late, but i have a Vector smart charger that works pretty well. 3 stage charging, multi amp settings, and it has an alternator tester, and battery reconditioner mode in it. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted March 9, 2007 Super User Posted March 9, 2007 I have the Schumacher SC1200A and I couldn't be happier with it. I charge using the 8 amp setting. Usually takes about 3 hours to charge my MAXX G29's. You got a better deal than I. Purchased the charger at WM last summer for around $60. Quote

I tried it out for the first time tonight and really like it's features. Does yours make a high pitched sound/buzz?? I think it's the fan?? It's not that big of deal, but when I go on trips I have to bring the battery inside a hotel room and charge it there. I don't think I could sleep with that thing on. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted March 9, 2007 Super User Posted March 9, 2007 The fan runs all of the time. The high pitched squeal only happens when it is charging. I've actually been thinking of rigging mine up to leave in the boat most of the time as I charge in the boat in the summer. Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted March 10, 2007 Super User Posted March 10, 2007 KU, I also have that charger, sorry didn't see your post till now. I use it for tons of stuff, my boat, farm equipment, cars, lawn mowers, tractor-trailers............basicly anything that I have that needs a charge, very light and portable. 99% of the time it's on the deep cycle setting charging my TM battery, I have had it for 2 years now, has worked like it should every time. I like it so much, and it's so light I am not even going to bother getting an onboard charger for my new boat, this charger will do just fine. Quote
