Riverator Posted August 11, 2017 Posted August 11, 2017 My wife and I are heading to Maine at the end of the month with the hopes of locating an area to kayak fish for smallmouth. I spent the better part of yesterday on the internet searching for what rivers we can scout out for next year to spend a week or two, but rent kayaks for this years trip. Can anyone help with a few suggestions of outfitters and locations please. Quote
Mainebass1984 Posted August 11, 2017 Posted August 11, 2017 Maine is a pretty big state. There are a lot of quality smallmouth waters. I personally prefer to fish for them in lakes and ponds. What area of Maine will you be going to ? Quote
Riverator Posted August 11, 2017 Author Posted August 11, 2017 Mostly the south east but will consider further upstate. Quote
"hamma" Posted August 12, 2017 Posted August 12, 2017 I know that the Saco river had a campground on the river which you could get dropped off upstream and float back down to the campground. My buddies sister and hubby own it, I havent seen him in a few years but last I knew it was still there. Could work as a home base to fish the river and its areas lakes and ponds, Lovewell, Kezar, Hancock, etc. are not to far away to check out. Quote
boostr Posted August 12, 2017 Posted August 12, 2017 Dameriscotta lake/river system loaded with smallmouth. Quote
Riverator Posted August 13, 2017 Author Posted August 13, 2017 Awesome, thank you "hamma" and boostr, I will check your suggestions on my days off this week. Quote
Smokinal Posted August 27, 2017 Posted August 27, 2017 Depending where you are headed, the Androscoggin has some great smallmouth. Quote
