Dobyn's Colt Series

Anyone notice Dobyns came out with a new budget line?  $79.99 price point. Interesting and not sure what niche this fills.

Yep I saw it this morning. This fills a desire Gary's dealers have had to get a lower priced rod made the Dobyns way.  The Dobyns Fury rods took Gary several years to get it right as he said. That too was produced because his dealers wanted a lower cost rod from his company. Gary said hew has been working on these for a good while.  These are going to compete with rods like Abu Garcia Veritas, or Powell Nusance, and others.

I also noticed the new Colt series rods today.

Mass produced discount house rods are something I believe Gary shouldn't try to compete with his outstanding business model. Time will tell.

A friend of mine works for a pretty good size sporting goods chain and the Sierra series and Fury series have done very well for them overall.   Dobyns has a history of strong dealer relationship so if dealers ask for a product, I can see Dobyns meeting the request.  I don't see Gary Dobyns compromising his reputation with a product that doesn't cut it.  The proof will be in the pudding so to speak.

I was on the phone with them today for another reason and I was told that theyll probably expand the series if its popular.

begginingfisherman the Colt series is brand new. They have not even been shipped to the dealers yet. So no one except a few prostaff may have ever fished with them yet.
