Super User Columbia Craw Posted August 21, 2017 Super User Posted August 21, 2017 Regardless of the banter, the eclipse was awesome to watch. My area had about a 98% view. A once in a life time experience. It became dark enough that street lights came on. Pretty cool. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted August 21, 2017 Super User Posted August 21, 2017 Scraped off @S Hovanec's FB page. Not a lot of work getting done, lol. Those little black blotches are sun spots. 1 Quote
Super User fishballer06 Posted August 21, 2017 Super User Posted August 21, 2017 Just went outside here in western PA. Looks pretty cool through the proper glasses. Quote
Super User senile1 Posted August 21, 2017 Super User Posted August 21, 2017 Where I live in Kansas City we were supposed to have a bit over a minute of totality. I stopped work and went out to watch. Just as it was reaching totality, the clouds came in and then some rain. The clouds haven't left. Unfortunately, I am now blind. 2 Quote
Super User Choporoz Posted August 21, 2017 Super User Posted August 21, 2017 No totality...and partly cloudy...but that made for cool viewing...just enough clouds for ok filter....I expect my eyes to make a full recovery in a few weeks...:) 1 Quote
Super User .ghoti. Posted August 21, 2017 Super User Posted August 21, 2017 Pic taken when eclipse was at it's peak, using an iPad app. Simulated thermal imaging. shows the corona better than normal pic. 2 Quote
Super User S Hovanec Posted August 22, 2017 Super User Posted August 22, 2017 I ended up watching it through a colander. Now my eyes are strained! 3 Quote
moguy1973 Posted August 22, 2017 Posted August 22, 2017 Had just over a minute and a half of totality in my area. It was amazing and I'm thinking I'll have to make the 2 hour drive south to see the next one in 2024. Totally surreal to see and something everyone should have the chance to see in their lifetime. 1 Quote

We didn't get totality here, pretty close though. Boss man let us go outside and check it out for about 15 mins or so. Got to see it through those specialized eclipse glasses. It was very cool. A crescent sun is what we saw here in Central Louisiana. Quote
RPreeb Posted August 22, 2017 Posted August 22, 2017 Total just an hour and a half north of us so we did the drive. We were on a friend's ranch in west central Nebraska, dead in the center of the totality. I took a bunch of photos of the climax, then we had a fried chicken and watermelon picnic as the light came back. My photo: 2 Quote

Clouds got in the way a little, but still very cool. Edited August 22, 2017 by Chowderhead Quote
Super User Gundog Posted August 23, 2017 Super User Posted August 23, 2017 I just watched a replay of it on YouTube. Ahhh, I love modern technology. No glasses, no traffic, no crowds, just me and my computer. Quote
