MichaelCopeland Posted August 10, 2017 Posted August 10, 2017 Why would they even have a party for it? I mean the event will only last a couple minutes or so and people always show up late for parties...lol! 2 Quote
Super User J Francho Posted August 10, 2017 Super User Posted August 10, 2017 I usually wait for the pictures to show up on the interwebz the day after these things. Though I did take a funny pic of the last lunar eclipse: 5 Quote

Catch 22 Posted August 11, 2017 Posted August 11, 2017 People look for a reason to party===any reason My family in Oregon claims the government expects a million people influx to the Portland area just for the eclipse. Quote
Super User Gundog Posted August 11, 2017 Super User Posted August 11, 2017 Hey if I can drink for a reason...why not? It beats just being drunk on a Monday. 2 Quote
Super User Columbia Craw Posted August 11, 2017 Super User Posted August 11, 2017 The state of Oregon is quickly trying to pass a bill that will tax non residents who wish to observe the eclipse. I think they want to declare the entire state a park for the day. I plan to celebrate by watching Apocalypto on cable. 1 Quote

I would love to go there and argue that I was just passing thru, not there to observe the eclipse. If they insisted on charging me, I believe they would be in violation of the interstate commerce act. One call to Larry H. Parker & he would get me millions for my suffering. On the other hand, I have got better things to do... 1 Quote

Super User kickerfish1 Posted August 20, 2017 Author Super User Posted August 20, 2017 Just one more day away. Sounds like lots of folks coming through Nebraska to view it from out of town. Quote
Super User Gundog Posted August 20, 2017 Super User Posted August 20, 2017 I was thinking of leaving PA to travel to FL to view the eclipse but then remembered we have the sun here too. Just for less months than FL. 2 Quote
Global Moderator 12poundbass Posted August 20, 2017 Global Moderator Posted August 20, 2017 Poor viewing conditions here in Michigan (mostly cloudy). Oh well. I'll check it out in 2099 ?? 1 Quote
Russ E Posted August 21, 2017 Posted August 21, 2017 supposed to be a full eclipse 50 miles north of Kansas city. sounds Like St Joseph Missouri is in the heart of the eclipse path. they are predicting traffic between KC and St Jo will be backed up for hours with people trying to be a part of it. My local lake is on the edge of the eclipse path, supposed to be at 87% eclipse. think I will go fishing and settle for 87%. Quote
