JuanD Posted August 9, 2017 Posted August 9, 2017 Hey guys looking for some recommendations on a good panfish setup perferebly spinning and not looking to spend over 60. I live down in west palm florida so we have bluegill, sunfish, mayan, you name it we probably have it. Thanks Quote
Super User soflabasser Posted August 9, 2017 Super User Posted August 9, 2017 Welcome to the forum. A good setup for panfish is a 6'0''-6'6'' medium action rod, size 1000-3000 spinning reel, and 6-8 pound test mono. You can get a lighter setup such as a ultra light if you want. Quote
FordsnFishin Posted August 9, 2017 Posted August 9, 2017 Bamboo rod and 8 feet of mono line. But really, I own two setups for panfish. Both are pflueger trion reels on gander mountain vortex medium light 6 foot rods. Work excellent for me and roughly a 45 dollar setup. Quote
Angealy Posted August 11, 2017 Posted August 11, 2017 Personally, I use a catch more fish 4'6" Ultra Light Spinning Combo for my panfish/trout needs. However, I do fish freshwater so your mileage may vary. The setup cost no more than 30$ depending on where you look. Quote
HeavyDluxe Posted August 11, 2017 Posted August 11, 2017 How 'sporting' do you want to be about it? For panfish and trout, I use: 5' UL Berkeley Lightning Rod (spinning) Pflueger Trion spinning reel 4520GX 4lb Berkeley Trilene XL mono I wish I had a longer rod - like something around 6'... But, I'm able to cast far enough on ponds and across any pool or stream here, so it's enough. I have <$60 in the setup... And it's tons of fun! Quote
