Drl453 Posted August 8, 2017 Posted August 8, 2017 Just ordered a dobyns champion extreme from TH and when I opened it I noticed one of the smaller guides at the top of the rod was bent all the way down. I went ahead and rebent it to normal position but I just wanted to check and make sure this wouldn't weaken the guide. Maybe something I should worry about ? It has Fuji K series alkonite guides. Just worried about it breaking off and warranty maybe not covering it on such a pricey rod! thanks guys Quote
bigturtle Posted August 8, 2017 Posted August 8, 2017 call tacklewarehouse and ask them about it Quote
Nor-Cal Basser Posted August 8, 2017 Posted August 8, 2017 It'll definently weaken the guide, seeing that the guide frames are made of aluminum. Bend any metal in and out of position and it will stress and break eventually. Non ferrous metals will do this faster, including aluminum. Just don't keep bending it back and forth and it won't be an issue. I would call TW and see what they say too. Quote
Super User rippin-lips Posted August 8, 2017 Super User Posted August 8, 2017 Bending it back once isn't really going to hurt anything. They'll replace the rod if you're that concerned though. Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted August 9, 2017 Posted August 9, 2017 Fuji guides are stainless steel not aluminum. If it didn't break when you straightened it you should be fine. 2 Quote
Drl453 Posted August 9, 2017 Author Posted August 9, 2017 Yeah that's why I came here first. Any time I call tacklewarehouse they don't know crap about anything. Ima just keep it snd hope for the best. Thanks !! Quote
Super User fishballer06 Posted August 9, 2017 Super User Posted August 9, 2017 I would have taken a photo of it and at least told them about it. If anything, it will make them aware of a possible problem with the way they package rods if this happens numerous times to them. Quote
Super User S Hovanec Posted August 9, 2017 Super User Posted August 9, 2017 id be more concerned with the blank than the guide. It takes considerable force to bend one of the K runners. They're pretty stout and nothing like the flimsy L running guides. Quote

Falkus Posted August 10, 2017 Posted August 10, 2017 all of my tacklewarehouse rods came with thick card board tubes. Im thinking that it was already bend as they put in the tube. As you meation that they are shipping one out to you. Thats why I like shopping with them. Long time ago, I had a reel that I got from them. The handle on the Abu Garcia Winch looked bend. They just shipped me another one and i returned the old one after a phone call/picture. Quote
Super User NYWayfarer Posted August 10, 2017 Super User Posted August 10, 2017 My dad always says there is nothing wrong with your money so there should be nothing wrong with what you purchase with it. You did the right thing getting a new one. Quote
