XpressJeff Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 I don't have much choice but use relatively improved launches. My truck is an older Ram 12V diesel that weighs 8800 # necked! It's easily 9500 all decked out for fishing. Quote

Depending on how hard you had to yank it to get it out, it could be off just enough to wear your tires faster than normal or it could be off enough to take the tread down to the cords in a couple trips. Axle was not hung up so It's fine---Rear tires were over the edge of the rock. Front kept the axle up Quote

IndianaOutdoors Posted August 27, 2017 Posted August 27, 2017 Tried a new launch site the other night. This was as deep as it got. Didn't bring enough rope to reach the opposite shore so I had to push it off by hand. Just enough water to float her. Edit: I guess it doesn't show very well but the ramp ends at the front tires 2 Quote

I couldn't here then again in the background you can see the dock that marks the start of the ramp. It didn't stop me from at least trying though haha 2 Quote

Clinton john Posted August 29, 2017 Posted August 29, 2017 Y'all should come try to launch a boat on Toledo Bend north when the water is down, then y'all can talk bout some ruff launch's. Hwy 3229 boat launch is the one I'm talking bout, at low water you will be wishing you had a sup'd up 4x4. Two sets of fold up fourwheeler ramps laid side ways where the trailer will stop will keep you from getting stuck every time. Hope this helps Quote

Clinton john Posted August 29, 2017 Posted August 29, 2017 Drop some four wheeler ramps in the water where the trailer tires will be, lay them so they are not inline with the trailer but laying facing out away from the trailer, your trailer won't sink that way. Sorry I forget not everybody knows how to understand coonass engineering. Quote

Haha that was over at Fireside last year. This year it got just as high, but I didn't fish it until after it started going back down and could at least get my trailer tires to the start of the concrete. Had I had my bigger tires on my jeep then I may have just made it back far enough to get the boat off. Quote
clh121787 Posted August 29, 2017 Posted August 29, 2017 I've launched off some pretty sketchy ramps and banks in my 18.5 foot fiberglass Thank God for 4 wheel drive. If the lake looks fishy I'll usually find a way Quote

Then watched the F150 start to get stuck when he tried to pull him out....and then another F350 spin his tires when he also tried. The dude ended up calling a tow truck, that ended up using a winch to get him out. 45 mins of priceless entertainment. So what youre telling us is don't buy a ford? 1 Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted September 2, 2017 BassResource.com Administrator Posted September 2, 2017 The tow truck was a Ford too. 3 Quote
