finatic Posted August 6, 2017 Posted August 6, 2017 I just joined the forum (after much searching for the sign up form). My apologies for not having anything filled out in my profile, but clicking on my username at the top of the page just takes me to the home page ... o_O I think the problem is that the logo/name up in the header is too large and overlaps your username, so when you go to click on your username your clicking the "home" link in the logo. Anyway, I have a question. I bought some Eagle Claw dual lock snaps and these seem to work better than the other ones I was using (they're easier to open and close). These are a size 3, but I could use a size smaller. How do the sizes go? Is it bigger numbers mean smaller sizes, and vice versa? So if I wanted a size smaller than a 3 I would look for a size 4, etc.? Quote
CTBassin860 Posted August 6, 2017 Posted August 6, 2017 Larger the # the smaller the hook until you get to 1/0.Then the larger the # the larger the hook Same rule for all terminal tackle Quote
finatic Posted August 6, 2017 Author Posted August 6, 2017 So if I want a smaller snap than the 3 I would look for a 4 and so on? They only had size 3 at Dick's so I suppose seeing some more else where would answer that question, lol. Quote
CTBassin860 Posted August 6, 2017 Posted August 6, 2017 The size chart answers the question. Yes a size 4 snap is smaller than a 3 1 Quote

Super User WRB Posted August 6, 2017 Super User Posted August 6, 2017 Actually most snaps like Cross Link and Dual Lock sizes run size 1 the smallest to size 9 the largest. Go by pound test rating, lower pound test the smaller the snap size. Remember the easier the snap opens the easier it will open when you don't want it to. Tom 3 Quote

This is because there is normally an ad between the site logo and the account options. When ad blockers block the ad, the logo covers the account options. There was a long period of time where I would've liked to sign up for this forum, but couldn't figure out how to sign up because of the same thing . Quote
finatic Posted August 6, 2017 Author Posted August 6, 2017 Yep I got a message in my email from somebody here telling me that already. So I turned off my **** for this site Quote

It appears that with straight snaps, the lower the # the smaller the snap. Same with split rings. However the opposite if you look at swivel snaps. Looks like I was wrong. It's not a uniform rule but should be. Quote

Go online and look at both Eagle Claw and Berkley snaps, see details and they have a size chart with lb test and lengths....couldn't be clearer, size 1 is the smallest. Tom Quote
finatic Posted August 7, 2017 Author Posted August 7, 2017 Thanks for the info. So then a size 2 would be the next smallest after the 3? Quote
finatic Posted August 11, 2017 Author Posted August 11, 2017 Picked up some size 2 snaps tonight and yes, these are smaller than the 3s. Only *** is the hook part that snaps over the body is curved around more than the ones on the 3s, which makes it harder to open and close them. I'll have to look around, or maybe the smaller ones just come like that. Quote
