Super User NorthernBasser Posted August 6, 2017 Super User Posted August 6, 2017 I've never used a Lew's before, but have heard pretty positive things about them. I saw this combo today at Dick's Sporting Goods and it felt really good in my hands. Anybody have any experience with this specific combo? https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=4&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwjjxIKj9MHVAhVFxYMKHQg-Bb0QFgi1ATAD&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.dickssportinggoods.com%2Fp%2Flews-mach-ii-speed-spool-baitcast-combo-16lewamch7ftmhbcccom%2F16lewamch7ftmhbcccom&usg=AFQjCNGKJy7l4Tqk78uVvM1ECzXvXVZqUg Quote
Super User Catt Posted August 6, 2017 Super User Posted August 6, 2017 What you will find with most combos is the reels are good but the rods are less than desirably. Companies do this to keep the cost down. Lew's on the other hand offer combos with fairly evenly matched rod-n-reel. I purchased my youngest son Lew's American Hero combo last year & my grand recently purchased Lew's Lazer TXS combo, both are quality rods-n-reels. You will not be disappointed with the Mach 2! 3 Quote

Thanks. Yeah, I hear ya on the rod usually being mediocre at best on these combos. But when I researched it, and saw that Lew's actually sells that rod separately (for $80), I thought "hmm, maybe this rod is actually decent". And I just read now that this won Best of Class for rod/reel combos at the 2016 iCast. 1 Quote
Marcel Baker Posted August 7, 2017 Posted August 7, 2017 I own 15+ Lew's and the Mach1 and Mach2 are awesome combos I have the spinning and baitcasting setup in both and don't have a single complaint on either. I also have the Mach1 spooled with 15lb big game and the Mach2 in 12lb suffix and they preform superbly, you will not be disappointed with the purchase. By the way keep a look out, at the 2017 ICast convention Lew's is coming out with a new Lew's it's orange and I believe it's called the crush, it's sure to be an awesome combo as well. Hope this helps -Tight Lines- 2 Quote
Robert Riley Posted August 7, 2017 Posted August 7, 2017 Excellent combo. I work at a F&S/Dicks and I probably sold 3-4 a day during the holiday season. People love them, have had no returns on them yet. I got one for my friend for his bday, and I've had some time on the water with it, it's nice. I'm personally not a fan of the oversized handles. It's just a speed spool LFS ($100) with some bonus features. 2 Quote
B_Rose12 Posted August 7, 2017 Posted August 7, 2017 I first got Lew's back in May, I bought the Carbon Fire SK spinning combo and I instantly fell in love with Lew's. Last week I decided to get a higher grade baitcaster and got the Lew's Tournament Pro G, needless to say, it has spoiled me. I'll own nothing but Lew's from here on out. Picking up my Abu Garcia Revo after using my Lew's Tourney, it's like using a baitcaster that's 10 years old. You def won't be disappointed with Lew's! And like Marcel mentioned, the Lew's Orange Crush combo will be out in month or so, that'll be my next purchase! 1 Quote
