You folks ever have one of those nights where you wished you stayed on the couch and watched MASH reruns...or whatever, lol? My night went like this. A front had pushed through and it was a real tough nite. A few boats I talked to in the Fri Nite tourney we're all struggling. I had a few whiffs, then finally connected with a dink that wrapped me around some standing timber and got off. Later on, I twisted my knee in the boat, as I'm down on my good knee, I get a good solid thunk, I set the hook the best I can and fought it for a bit. It was about 3 lbs, came unglued at the boat. So I idle back to the ramp fishless with a sore knee. I managed to load the boat and get it up in the parking lot but then the trim went out and wouldn't lower. So I spend an hour trying to fix that and finally get home about 2AM. Makes me wanna start golfing...ok not really.

Whether mornings, afternoons, evenings or nights things seem to turn out that way. With the exception of the sore knee and trim going out. Sorry to hear all that, hope the knee is better soon. However, I do believe a bad night fishing is better than a great night sitting home watching whatever.

Some days are diamonds... Some days are stones...Some days you're better off not leaving home!

Don't know unless you go. Days like that just make the good days that much more rewarding!

If I didn't go everyone would call talking about how much everyone weighed in.  If I go I usually find out they lied the week before. Lol

Any time I have a chance to toss a hook is a good time, even if I get Skunked.

There is usually some take away that helps me in the future.

......and you can also only watch the re-run of mash any time.

That said, if it is Boston Legal, that's different

Never wished I'd have stayed home and watched mash. Maybe the ufc or a razorback game but not mash lol but I've had a few rough nights lately too. Got 2nd Friday and skunked last night. Just part of it. Had fun regardless. Even tried to drag some recreational boaters off a sand bar they'd run aground on last night. Made me thankful that even though I had a bad night fishing it could always be worse

Several years ago a tackle shop owner asked me to fish with his G. Loomis rod rep, he would pay the entry fee, I agreed. The rep was to bring sandwiches from a local deli and meet me at the lake 2 hours before the night tournament started. The guy shows up 20 minutes before start time, we only had time to launch and get ready to start, he forgot the food, said he was stuck in traffic?

Long story short the rep had a dozen rods and 2 big tackle bags, not a good sign for night fishing. This rep kept changing rods and lures all night and never caught a single bass and the jig bite was good! The way back to weigh in the tells me he can't stay and must leave as soon as possible. We had a decent bag and thought not enough to get a check, so I told him to get my vehicle, we can off load his stuff and I would weigh the fish, which I did and also left for home. I was hungry and stopped at the all night truck stop cafe, who is there...the rep eating dinner.

I find out later we actually won the event with the small bag, most boats blanked! Stop by the tackle shop a few days later to learn the rep told everyone he caught all the bass and wanted his prize money!

...And that G Loomis rep went on to be elected Govemor of California... :)

I hear you man.  That just flat out sucks.  The worst boat rides home are the ones where I'd hooked up on a good fish and for whatever the reason was I lost it (like today).  Constant line tangles, snapped off fish, long hours, old powerade (lol), etc.  When everything eventually does come together though it feels amazing.  Tight lines moving forward.

Update....the knee is a little better, just tweaked it when I turned while on the TM pedal. The trim was just a broken wire that I fixed up nice with some heat shrink over the repair.  Now fishing...well let's just say 2 out of 3 ain't bad.

Except for the twisted knee and broken trim your trip sounds like a lot of my trips.
