Flukeman_89 Posted August 2, 2017 Posted August 2, 2017 Looking for a good Inshore rod that i can use for Bass and saltwater Inshore and vice versa. It needs to be able to cast Jigs to Albies and Spanish, and for fish like Trout and Reds and also for Pond fishing for Bass. I don't feel like wasting money for a dedicated bass rod when to me inshore and bass rod's seem pretty darn similar. What pound braid and also M or MH? Reel wise i'm thinking the Shimano Nasci. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted August 2, 2017 Super User Posted August 2, 2017 G. Loomis IMX 844C/ Shimano CTE200GT Guys sell these when they upgrade to a GLX or NRX. You might find a 10 year old rod in mint condition for $150-$200. The reel shoulld run $175-$200 in excellent condition (10/10 mechanically, 8/10 cosmetically). I have caught bull reds (30+ lbs) and thousands of pounds of stripers (PB 38lbs). For more than 20 years this and the GLX version have been my go-to jig and weighted soft plastics rod. 2 Quote

What about st croix mojo inshore? And for action slow, mod, fast extra fast? M or MH? Quote
Super User WRB Posted August 2, 2017 Super User Posted August 2, 2017 Youbreferehced a spinning reel and rod but didn't mention reel size, lure weight or line lb test. Speckled trout, Spanish mackerel and red fish are all very different size fish with reds being the largest and strongest. You need a rod that can both cast the lures you plan to use and reel size appropriate for the line. Tom Quote

This is what I have been using for stripes more recently, especially with The Rig: https://www.bassresource.com/fishing_lures/DHC7-761-CAHFS-primmus-review.html 1 Quote
PatrickKnight Posted August 4, 2017 Posted August 4, 2017 Any 7 foot ml or m power spinning rod will work. I personally use a 3000 Stradic FK with 10 lb Power Pro for all my inshore fishing in Florida and Texas. For mainly a trout rod I would want a mod/fast at the fastest as they do have fairly soft mouths and same goes for flounder, for reds a fast action would be fine. Quote

I just picked up an E6x Inshore (Med Mod) 7' baitcaster but haven't fished it. It's going to be perfect for speckled trout, flounder, small stripers and small reds. I'm a little concerned about larger fish- well see. I don't think this could do double duty for bass- when they call it a moderate, it really is! Again, this rod is perfect for the what it's been designed for. Maybe a MH or Med Fast model would work for both, but not sure it would make sense. 1 Quote
