Rodney Smith Posted August 2, 2017 Posted August 2, 2017 I have to confess. I have some jerk baits, but do not enjoy fishing them and have had limited success. I do need to get better at this technique. If you could only have one jerk bait to fish, which one would it be? Your go-to color would be nice. Quote
Super User deep Posted August 2, 2017 Super User Posted August 2, 2017 There are several different 110 models, and several kinds of pointers too. I have 8-10 in my rotation, and a few more that I don't (usually) fish. Depends on depth and speed (both ROF and how fast/ slow I'm fishing). So which 110 and which pointer are you interested it? To answer your other question: 110+1 (sexy french pearl) or 112MR slender pointer (pearl threadfin shad). Edit: Not as pretty as @A-Jay's anymore. 3 Quote
Super User Munkin Posted August 2, 2017 Super User Posted August 2, 2017 Pointer SP or Slender Pointer with size determined by the size of forage in the area. Colors: Ghost minnow, Pearl Ayu, and Baitfish silver are my top 3. Allen Quote
TheRodFather Posted August 2, 2017 Posted August 2, 2017 I have a Pointer 100 SP in a bluegill pattern that was producing very well for me in the late winter into spring. I haven't really been throwing any JBs in a few months. I only have one Megabass JB, in Pro blue, haven't caught anything on it yet though. So I guess that means I like the Luckycraft lures better Quote
Super User fishballer06 Posted August 2, 2017 Super User Posted August 2, 2017 Pointers. I really like the 78, but I throw the 110 too. Crappie and Pro Bone Blue are my favorites. I like the Crappie color because it's a very natural shad/baitfish/crappie color and it looks good in clear and off color water. The Pro Bone Blue is a clear, natural color, but it has a bright chartruese belly, which I like to throw around smallmouth. Quote
Chance_Taker4 Posted August 2, 2017 Posted August 2, 2017 Neither one Rapala Shadow Rap for me. But if you want to use a more traditional type jerk than I would say the Strike King KVD Jerkbait. 1 Quote
38 Super Fan Posted August 2, 2017 Posted August 2, 2017 Definitely the 110 for me. Pro blue, and French Pearl are my two favorite colors. I've never really liked the LC pointers much, in fact there are several jerkbaits I like better. Quote
Super User Team9nine Posted August 2, 2017 Super User Posted August 2, 2017 Only one....would have to be a Megabass 110 version for me. Most of the popular colors have already been named. Quote
Super User Choporoz Posted August 2, 2017 Super User Posted August 2, 2017 Watching a Vision dart in the water is probably the single most pleasing bait to look at. And that is probably worth something. To someone. The LC Pointers cast better for me. Not that accuracy is all too important for jerk baits, compared to other presentations, but I get more fouled hooks with the Megabass lures, for some reason....not a lot, but enough to be a little frustrating. I would say the fish-catching ability is about equal. I use both, but I'd probably recommend the LC, if only because the 'catability' gives it an edge. Good thing that we don't actually have to choose one over the other. I'd toss a Shadow Rap onto that order, too...just because. And...while you're at it, maybe a Rogue...jk....BUT, I do have a bright blue/silver Rogue that for some reason will beat the rest on very rare occasions. 3 Quote
Fishin' Fool Posted August 2, 2017 Posted August 2, 2017 I have caught far more fish on a Zoom Super Fluke than a MB and LC jerkbait combined. 4 Quote
Comfortably Numb Posted August 2, 2017 Posted August 2, 2017 I like both. MB 110 goes shallower for me. LC 100sp a lil deeper. You can get two pointers for the price of one MB. Pointers suspend better IME Quote
Super User kickerfish1 Posted August 3, 2017 Super User Posted August 3, 2017 I like the pointer variants. More colors and styles and less expensive. Also are more durable especially the bills. Seems to me I get bit more on the pointers then the 110s. 2 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted August 3, 2017 Global Moderator Posted August 3, 2017 I prefer the LC, but not the regular pointer. The Slender Pointer and Flash Pointer are my favorites. I fish too many rocks that just love to claim various parts that the MB baits seem so willing to donate. Quote
Super User smalljaw67 Posted August 3, 2017 Super User Posted August 3, 2017 The Pointer 78 just produces fish all the time!! Don't get me wrong, I like the MB 110 but that is hit or miss in the waters I fish, when they are on it nothing will beat it but when they aren't other baits will do much better. The 78 is one of those baits that even when it isn't the best producing bait it will still catch fish while the MB is either fill the boat or get skunked, at least for me it is. Quote
gilkeybr Posted August 3, 2017 Posted August 3, 2017 I second the fact that the action of the Vision 110 is enticing enough to make me want to jump into the water and bite it. If I were to get one, I would get the 110+1 for the added depth. The nice thing about that lure is its not as strenuous to work as other deep diving jerk baits. I was surprised at how much it floated when using it this weekend. I would definitely call it "slow floating". This is with my GG Threadfin Shad color. I also really like the colors of my 110 in Deadly Black Shad. That was working well this weekend. What I would pass on is the 110 FX. I think the folding bill makes the action too erratic and I sometimes experience the bait cresting the surface! It doesn't seem to maintain depth like I would like Quote
