Quarry Man Posted August 1, 2017 Posted August 1, 2017 I am leaving for a trip to both Disney and Discovery cove for one week in two days. I am hoping to be able to get on some fish down there. I plan on binging a travel spinning and travel casting Rod. I am staying in wilderness lodge. Are there any spots that I am allowed to fish near there? Both inside and out of the resorts. Also I don't have transportation only the Disney bus and my two legs. If not, are there places that I can sneak into. I am only 16 so I can usually get away with it as long as I'm not disrespectful. Also will I need a license to fish down there? Thanks! Quote
Super User DogBone_384 Posted August 1, 2017 Super User Posted August 1, 2017 I'm at the airport waiting for my flight there now. I believe there are guided trips available, which might be the best option. It was reported that you could bank fish the ponds 'unofficially', but that might have changed since the gator incident a couple years ago. 1 Quote
Super User Fishing Rhino Posted August 1, 2017 Super User Posted August 1, 2017 It might have changed, but the last I knew, if you are staying at a Disney resort, you can fish any of the canals from shore. You can get a guided fishing trip on the "big" lakes in a bass boat or a party barge. You can use your own gear except for the dynamite, or use theirs. https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/recreation/fishing/ When the page opens, be sure to click on the "see more" to get more particulars. 1 Quote

Super User DogBone_384 Posted August 2, 2017 Super User Posted August 2, 2017 I'd like to but this is family time. Wife wouldn't go for it. Thanks for the offer. Quote

Makes sense, I was barely able to bet allowed a rod. Where are you staying? I will be in wilderness lodge. If anything changes, i do have two rods... Quote
Super User DogBone_384 Posted August 3, 2017 Super User Posted August 3, 2017 We own a time-share that has a resort resort is 10 minutes from Disney. The resort borders Lake Eve but allows only dock fishing. Too bad too because they used to rent small boats. We drove down a few years ago, with my kayak no less, but I couldn't convince them to let me fish their lake from it. Ownership cited liability. Maybe next year I'll cough up the dough for a guided trip .... Good luck if you get a chance to fish. 1 Quote
