Organizing Tackle Boxes in Boat

I'm sure that someone has found a great way to organize and keep their plano boxes in their boats.  I'm looking for a rack or something along those lines to keep my boxes in place and somewhat organized in the storage compartments of my boat.

Anyone have any suggestions or have a website for such a product.

I cut a piece of rubber matting from an old truck bed mat to fit inside the floor of my tackle storage compartment in the bow.  I stack the boxes on their side and label each with a sharp as to it's contents.  The rubber mat keeps the boxes from sliding around and helps keep the noise down when taking them in and out.

You could also buy tool box draw liner matting at Sears that would do the same thing.

Though it still isn't as nice as the tackle organizing systems that are optional on most boats it helps a little.

I've got a couple of these. They work out pretty good.

If you stand a milk crate on end you can stack 12 3600 series planos inside.  Put on a strap to carry it and you've got a pretty inexpensive carrier/rack.  It keeps them in a flat position too.

You can make little dividers using a paper rack from staples.  I found where someone did that somewhere online.  If I find it I will post a pic.

I use the BPS bags pictured above and they work great.

That is what I was looking for.  Thanks for the link.  I have already contacted the company for some more information.  The tackle bags from BPS also were very helpful.  It's great to be able to get help like this.  Thanks for all the replies.

I use a $7 storage container from Lowes.  It's wide enough for 3700 sized Plano boxes and long enough for probably 12 of those.  I've got 6 3600s, 1 3700, and a Big Mouth Spinner bait box in mine.  There's still room on the sides for all of my scents, tools, scale, culling do dads, and ruler, and sunglasses.

Well I contacted the company that made the rack system.  Turns out my 3600s are a "special order" which will cost a fortune.  So now I'm going to look into the other ideas that have surfaced.  The BPS bags are nice, but the other options may even be cheaper.  Guess I'll be heading to Staples and Home Depot this week.  Thanks again.

bigcasino, that rack would be super easy to make. Do you or a friend have a welder? get some angle iron and make the square frame. Add the the pieces that seperate each tray. And then head to the powder coating shop. This would take less than an hour to make (not counting p.c.), and pretty cheap.

I would want to add some sort of locking piece to it, somethat would run top to bottom across the middle of each row of  trays that I could padlock maybe so if I went into a store for lunch someone could not walk by my boat and just reach in and take them.

you could make locking mech's pretty easy. You can use small strap steel sold at any hardware store. Put a hing on one end and a hasp on the other. It wouldn't be fool proof but at least a deterrent.
