Blazing_Tiger Posted July 29, 2017 Posted July 29, 2017 Hello everyone! My names Travis and i'm very new to fishing. Have been doing a lot of research for a new setup as i haven't fished in probably over 10 years. Like then, i still don't really know what i'm doing. But i was able to catch a few baby bluegill and bass? the other day with an old daiwa d-force combo using live worms on a hook with a split shot weight. Don't really have a target species or anything yet as i'm just starting out. I guess i'm just looking for a quality all around setup as again, still have no idea what i'm doing. Will probably be fishing from land and by boat on a river and lake at some point. What i found was a 6'6" uglystick Gx2 light power fast action i can get for $30 matched with a daiwa revros 2000 for $32 (Don't think i'll need anything bigger than that?). For a total of $62 i'm thinking its a pretty great all around setup, but any advice would be much appreciated! Thanks! Quote
Looking for the big one Posted July 29, 2017 Posted July 29, 2017 Ugly Stiks are renowned for durability, however they lack in sensitivity due to their fiberglass construction. I would recommend a graphite rod over it, such as a Berkeley Lightning Shock, Cherrywood, or All Star Rod. Quote
Blazing_Tiger Posted July 29, 2017 Author Posted July 29, 2017 How about a cherrywood 6'6" medium fast with a revros 3000? Would this still be suitable for smaller stuff? Any input is well appreciated! Quote
