I use Shimano Stradic ci4 spinning reels and love them. I have used Plueger Supreme reels before and thought they were pretty good, but the reviews are the latest models aren't that great. I was goi g to pick one up for for a set up for my teenage son (who doesn't go with me all that much). Anybody have experience with the new Supremes?

I have a Pflueger Supreme MGX, it is basically the new supreme. When that reel was out they had a regular aluminum body and the MGX which was the magnesium body but they now make just the magnesium body. It is one of the best spinning reels I own, I even got a Patriarch when it was on sale because the Supreme I have has been working so well for the last few years. It doesn't have all the bells ansd whistles but it does a great job and I haven't experienced any issues at all so I have no problems recommending it. Go to Tackle Warehouse and read reviews, most of the bad reviews I see usually end in "save you money and buy a Daiwa" or something of the sort, I don't believe you can get a better reel from any brand at the $100 price point.

I have 2 supreme XT's and love them,  Only thing I've had issues with is they'll tighten up some with heavy use after two years(River fishing 3-5 times a week for about 5 months), so just oil them regularly.  But as far as handling fish I have the 2000 series and have landed several 4+lb smallies.

I have half a dozen Supreme XT's and love them. Sold all my Shimano spinning reels and bought them instead.

My wifes frog setup is a 7 foot Dobyns heavy spinning rod and a Pflueger Supreme rel. That thing is buttery smooth and feel sway better than the Shimano we bought her for her jig setup, and it cost more than the Supreme.  We also fish 6 Presidents, some old some less than 2 years old. They all perform awesome. We went with the Supreme only because of the faster gear ratio.

Shimano makes the best spinning reels in the world but they really don't come into their own until the Stradic line. The Supreme is a solid reel for $100 however I think the Daiwa BG is a better reel at that same price point but it does weigh about a half oz more than the Supreme does.

I cant answer your question about the P. Supreme but I have a Daiwa Revros 2000H.

I don't use spinning reels very much but I wanted one inexpensive spinning reel for times I need one (like trout fishing the Chattahoochee).

I paid a hair under $40 shipped from ebay. Its surprisingly nice for the money.

I believe the Daiwa RG-AB is the updated version of the Revros and should be a little better for an extra $15.

I go to the McGinnis bridge ramp sometimes. If you want to come give it a few casts you're welcome to.

Same here. Sold my daiwa and shimano and now use nothing but flueger. They just work great for me, and the "feel" was better to me.

I own several pflueger spinning reels including a couple of supreme XTs and would highly recommend them. I don't believe you can find a better value in that price range.
