Super User NHBull Posted July 27, 2017 Super User Posted July 27, 2017 Gents, Yesterday I was to lazy to open a new bag of basic 5" black/blue senkos and put on a black 5" swim bait that I picked up on a whim.......glad I did! I am seriously looking to replace my go-to 5 inch with these. Yesterday they of fished all my buddies in numbers and size. These get little talk on the board.........anyone else using these and any thoughts? 1 Quote
LxVE Bassin Posted July 27, 2017 Posted July 27, 2017 How did you rig it? I only buy the 5 inch senkos, I see the swim senkos all the time but I never pull the trigger. Quote

bholtzinger14 Posted July 27, 2017 Posted July 27, 2017 Oh, ok. I thought you switched from a gy swimbait to another swimbait. I picked up some swimmin dingers and cane thumpers but have not tried the GY's yet even though I only hear food things about them. Quote
Super User NHBull Posted July 27, 2017 Author Super User Posted July 27, 2017 It's slender and get deeper, quicker without weight Quote
riverbasser Posted July 27, 2017 Posted July 27, 2017 Been using them for awhile. Normally with a belly wieghted hook. They definatley catch fish but like most GY baits are very fragile 1 Quote

I haven't pulled the trigger because I feel Like swim senkos will tear up just as easy. Quote
Super User Cgolf Posted July 27, 2017 Super User Posted July 27, 2017 I have fished them a lot in the past on a slider head. I would cast them out, let me sink to the bottom, and then reeled it back slowly. I did a test of swim jig trailers a while back and was very surprised to find that the swim senko had the wildest kick of all the baits I tried. Of course I haven't fished it yet, but will get to it some day. Quote
craww Posted July 28, 2017 Posted July 28, 2017 They are criminally underrated ESPECIALLY crawling around, in, and through shallow wood and grass. Perhaps its something different that bass don't often see in that scenario. Ive done well with them (when I stuck with em) but have a buddy that I trade boat trips with and he absolutely slays with them. He also sticks with black/blue and is never caught without one tied on a rod. Just kinda finessing it enough to get the tail thumping through little pockets- sometimes killing it. The plastic density is more robust than alot of the swimbaits like the florida guys use and the thinner profile helps it get down. Ive had a fair amount of luck on a swim jig as a trailer, the GYBC plastics add a good amount of compact weight- you can really cast them. Briefly tried it on a chatterbait but it was a bit much. Its been a couple years, but I think the added weight and tail resistance made it harder for the blade to thump at slower speeds. Quote
Scarborough817 Posted July 28, 2017 Posted July 28, 2017 i use them for chatterbait trailers but that's about it Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted July 28, 2017 Super User Posted July 28, 2017 I'll use a swim senko on the below Owner Ultrahead Bullet to probe in & around grass. A-Jay 1 Quote
Super User kickerfish1 Posted July 28, 2017 Super User Posted July 28, 2017 I like take a bit off the front end of swim senko and use it as a swimjig trailer. Very underated and seldom talked about. Quote
Super User Choporoz Posted July 28, 2017 Super User Posted July 28, 2017 A few years ago, I bought the kit; half a dozen each of 6 or 7 colors. I tried them trig, weighted hooks, unweighted. I was mostly frustrated. Seemed that there was a very small window within which the bait swam the way I wanted. Too fast and it rolls...too slow and there's no tail kick. I admit that I didn't use them for very long, but they just weren't getting it done. I still have a couple dozen collecting dust in the basement. TBH, once I discovered CutR, I never gave the swim senko another thought. Quote
Super User NHBull Posted July 28, 2017 Author Super User Posted July 28, 2017 I want out today and used them instead of my usual 5" GY worm, and weightless and slow brought me 5 over 2 lbs. For this time of yr, that's very good. It is nice just having another arrow in the quiver Quote
jr231 Posted July 28, 2017 Posted July 28, 2017 ALL GY PLASTICS CATCH FISH. At least all that I've tried, which is more than several. 1 Quote
