Super User Cgolf Posted July 26, 2017 Super User Posted July 26, 2017 Looking at the top lures for the St Lawrence tourney on Bassmaster G man has what looks a lot like the Menace grub. They call it a Z Craw trailer, but it isn't. Is it a prototype bait, or is it actually a Menace? Quote
Tim Kelly Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 Looks a lot like a menace and not much like a z claw. Quote
Chance_Taker4 Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 (This is not to be derogatory by any means) I have been to fishing seminars with Skeet Reese demonstrating crankbaits using Strike King baits but pushing Lucky Craft. I've been to an FLW Weigh-In and seen anglers decks loaded with one brand of roads that is not their sponsor and they throw them in their locker and pull out their sponsors rods before getting in front of the crowd. I can't say for certain but I am sure majority of professional anglers use other gear than what they tell us and try to pull the wool over our eyes for a payday. But its a business and I wouldn't have it any other way. When Ike left Daiwa for Abu he was already using Abu while under Daiwa contract, Aaron Martens was developing Engima Rods while promoting Megabass. That is why I take professional promotion with a grain of salt. 2 Quote

Same here, but was more curious if it was a prototype bait because at least in the picture the flappers looked longer and I didn't see the gap in between them like the menace. I am not 100% that it was a menace. I think G man has been pretty open about this in the past, using other baits, the only crazy thing is if there is a picture why lie, just say it is a generic trailer instead. KVD's was listed as a perch spinbait type lure lol Back in the day I saw this in the RC car world too, I had special, legal, motors that were unlabled and I know others did as well and that was the tip of the iceberg there. 1 Quote
Super User fishballer06 Posted July 26, 2017 Super User Posted July 26, 2017 It looks like a Rage Menace to me, but perhaps the pinchers aren't pulled apart or it's just an odd camera angle. That's a fisheye lens, so those have a tendency to distort perception. Quote
Super User fishwizzard Posted July 26, 2017 Super User Posted July 26, 2017 It looks to me like a rage menace with part of the head trimmed to make it shorter. Quote
Super User NorcalBassin Posted July 26, 2017 Super User Posted July 26, 2017 G-man is pretty adamant that he will not lie about what brand he was using. He has a story about coming up on Zoom and feeling bad abut winning with something else early in his career, and he called up the owner to let him know his dilemma before going on stage. The owner told him he should always be honest and he'd be upset with him if he ever did otherwise. I'll take him at his word... could be a prototype just like his jig was last year. Quote
CroakHunter Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 Looks very similar like the menace. But the ribs on the body look more dominant and also the flippers look longer. Looks like a good trailer regardless. Quote
