fishbear Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 OK guys, as promised for a week or two now, here is my boat build, or at least the structural part of it, having issues with my camera, so will post the rest as soon as I can. Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted February 21, 2007 Super User Posted February 21, 2007 Lookin good so far. Quote
Super User Bassn Blvd Posted February 21, 2007 Super User Posted February 21, 2007 Looks good so far. I wa thinking about the easiest was to put in braces. Looks like you figured it out. It looks as though the braces will pull/rip out from the side of the seat when you put weight on the deck. Have you tested the strenght ? Quote
fishbear Posted February 21, 2007 Author Posted February 21, 2007 Yea, I can get up on it and dance,, lol,, and i am a 300 lb. guy,, no give at all. Quote
Rose_Jackets67 Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 Looks good, John. Is the big piece of angle iron on the very front of the boat for mounting the trolling motor? If so, can you snap a couple more pictures? I'm going to (finally) be putting floors, seats, and another motor on mine, and would like to see how you set your front mount up. Also, give 'em hell on Saturday. If you ever need a sub one weekend, I'd love to help out. Feel free to give me a call. Adam Quote
Rose_Jackets67 Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 Another question - Are you planning on adding any reinforcement under where the seat will actually mount? Adam Quote
PeterF Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 So far so good. Keep up the good work. Quote
fishbear Posted February 22, 2007 Author Posted February 22, 2007 When I can afford the pedestal mounts, yes, I will be adding support underneath for them, until then, no. As far as the alum. angle pulling away from the seats, the front pieces are bolted thru and another piece of angle behind it the same length. Adam, will get some more pics this weekend for you, that mount is really kinda cheesy but it works real well. Also, you know you are welcome in my boat any time you want to go.... I am signed up as a lone fisherman for the HVBA series,, so if you want to fish this weekend let me know. still having issues with my camera, the camera memory card will show the pics on the camera, but when I plug it into the computer, there is nothing there,, grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr... I have finished pictures of the boat on there, as soon as I can get them off the camera, will post them for everybody. Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 Fishbear, we have the same boat!! Mine is a 12,is yours a 14? it's a sears. THIS is my '64 Quote
fishbear Posted February 22, 2007 Author Posted February 22, 2007 Mine is a 1988 Fisher. 14ft. 44 in. wide at the stern.... very stable boat, and I love it..... Gonna be fishing from it in my first tournament as a boater, not a sub this weekend at Varner.... wish me luck guys,, well everyone that is not fishing against me that is... ;D ;D ;D LBH, your boat kinda inspired me... but it took a lot of thought and planning and being able to adjust my plan as the build went along... I have total about 180.00 in materials,,, and that included doing some transom work as well. I am very please with how it turned out so far. Quote
NHfroggin Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 nice job with the deck. by raising the hight is it going to make the boat unstable?i just got a 14 foot flat bottom jon and was thinking about puting a deck on it. Bassmaster6 Quote
fishbear Posted February 28, 2007 Author Posted February 28, 2007 You just have to get your sea legs under you is all. I and my partner fished this weekend in a tournament, and it was not unstable at all with both of us standing and fishing... it actually made it a bit more stable with the added weight in the boat...
