npl_texas Posted July 25, 2017 Posted July 25, 2017 Browsing eBay I found a 200KHG and ordered it. A quick google showed a couple of websites that have it in stock as well. Check Cabela's if you are interested. I know I was eager to get one and figured some other people might be as well. Quote
IndianaFinesse Posted July 25, 2017 Posted July 25, 2017 If you have a curado 70, let me know how they compare once you've tested it. Looking to buy my first non-greenie curado... Which is a slippery slope I've heard. 1 Quote

Falkus Posted July 25, 2017 Posted July 25, 2017 Please do --- I have two 70XG that I love. I wanted to see side by side compare to see if I should pull the trigger. Quote
Pinoy_Basser Posted July 25, 2017 Posted July 25, 2017 check out the reel test channel on youtube he already did a comparison vs the 70 and a 50 2 Quote

I watched one of his videos comparing casting distance of the 70 to the Tatula SV but used completely different rods. Kind of defeats the purpose of side by side comparison from a casting distance point of view. Also if you watch his latest video he spends the first 3 minutes backlashing the 200k because he doesn't realize he turned all the breaks off and can't figure out what's going on. Anyone with minimal baitcasting experience would figure this out after the second cast max. After that I kind of view him as someone doing a Ferrari review video then stalling it for the first 3 minutes. 1 Quote

I believe he was using the same rod (uglystick) lite for all three reels. About backlash on 200 K, I believe this can happens to anyone when handling new reel plus new fresh line spooled. He also mentioned in captioning that he was doing free spool test before casting test. i can also confirm that I get further distance on my Curado 70 compare to daiwa SV105 and 50e. The only real complaint I have with curado 70 is I have to adjust dial and adjust my cast when change from heavy to light weight lure. 1 Quote
Super User JustJames Posted July 26, 2017 Super User Posted July 26, 2017 I might get curado 200 K too but right now there are many reels in our flea market that I really want. Quote

Blacktail 8541 Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 I have the Curado 200k coming from Cabela's also. I watched the same video a couple of days ago and was less than impressed. Quote

Since he is the only video on Youtube I could find fishing the K I continued to watch once he put the brakes on, but stopped when he was shocked to actually catch a fish a few minutes later. I've been upgrading my fishing arsenal this year, my baitcaster was 15 years old and my spinning reel twice that age. I slightly backlashed the Curado on the first cast and never backlashed the Chronarch and Metanium. I did the exact same thing he did once too but the feeling of no brakes is pretty obvious after 1 cast. I'm no expert with them either, but then again I'm not making equipment review videos. lol. I will admit 99.99% of me joining this forum was for feedback on equipment. I'd rather read just about anyone's opinions on their gear than some clown on Youtube, however I do enjoy watching fishing videos in the Winter when I have cabin fever. 3 hours ago, fishballer06 said: I watched his video's, but I discredited everything whenever he used an Ugly Stick rod to test a Metanium... clh121787 Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 I too viewed parts of his videos. And enjoy them for the most part. It's not the ugly stick or whatever that discredits the test for me as long as everything is the same (rod ,line, casting plug). But he and I set our reels up quite differently making his test not compatible to me imo.. I think a CLEAN reel with good technique, proper rod and line for said lure weight are more important than the type of reels. To some extent. Especially with the quality of reels he's dealing with. Back to the 200k held one yesterday. Still can't believe I walked out of there with out buying. Gotta have one or 4... Just have more than I can possibly fish right now 1 Quote
22hertz Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 What Im interested in is how this new Curado stacks up to a Tatula CT. After comparing my Curado I to my Tatula CT, for the price I paid for both, the Tatula CT makes a strong compelling case for itself. There are things I like better about both reels but the (street) price difference is not insignificant and I dont like the Curado better just differently. Quote

I have quite a few Tat CT's and one Curado I. I definitely don't pick up the Curado 200 I nearly as much as the CT's. Now the Curado 70's are another story. Those are my go to pitching reels. I'm interested to see if the 200 K will bring the 70 and the 200 closer together in terms of feel and quality. Quote
22hertz Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 What is it you like about the 70 over the 200I? Is it the size, weight, or something else? Quote

Yes to size and weight but also it feels like a much more refined reel. It's much smoother and much less noisy. I would have more if they held more line. Quote
22hertz Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 Have you tried a Chronarch MGL? Its sounds like thats what you're wanting. Quote

I have it on my jig rod and have fished it about 3 times. I love it. I definitely want more but would like to see how the new Curado compares to potentially save some money. Quote

MBB Nate Posted July 28, 2017 Posted July 28, 2017 For testing the rod doesn't matter as long as the same rod is used as it removes any variables. 3 Quote
npl_texas Posted July 28, 2017 Author Posted July 28, 2017 Well, I got the reel and spooled it up. Fished this morning but didn't use it. Really hard to notice size difference from the I in hand. It does feel a little smoother than the I series more akin to the 70. I'll report back when I've actually fished it. 1 Quote
Super User JustJames Posted July 29, 2017 Super User Posted July 29, 2017 Same size as I? Shoot I thought they claimed it is 10% smaller. Can you take picture compare to 70 please? Quote

It is on my boat at the lake. I will take a pic as soon as I'm over there. It didn't feel much different in my hand than the I. 1 Quote
Super User JustJames Posted July 29, 2017 Super User Posted July 29, 2017 Thanks, right now I'm holding on to K to replace my tatula Ct type R. If it is the same size as I, I might have to look else where. Quote
