I haven't caught a smallmouth since October and I've had enough! I live in the Quakertown, PA area and have a 16' Jon with an electric motor. I want to find smaller lakes within two hours that have good populations of smallmouth. Something I can run around in my boat on without needing an outboard. Preferably under under 800 acres.

I know about the big lakes that have them like Beltzville, Wally, Nock, Blue Marsh and all the rivers, but I don't want to get caught in boat traffic or current. Does anyone know little lake where I can get my smallie fix?

Pickering creek has s lot of smallmouth in the 2"-3lb range. It flows into the schuykill. That is a shallow wide slow river. Try that, never fished it but heard good reports

I’ve actually been going to the Susquehanna River out of Columbia. Awesome stretch of river.

Keep me posted where you find Megastink.  I'm in Quakertown also so always looking for new/good areas.

@Megastink have you looked into Chambers Lake/Hibernia County park in Chester County. Not sure if its too far for you but from what I've read they have a high catch rate for smallies. Its TM's only and has fishing piers and shore access. Never fished it myself but read good things.

Good to know! That’s a little over an hour away, but not too bad. The Suskie is 2hrs from me. I’ll check it out this spring.

Give Merrill creek reservoir in NJ at try.  600+ acres and full of SM.  Really whacked them in May and June of 18.
