Tonight I was fishing a night tournament on ouachita and well it could've went better. Not only was the fishing tough but when i thought it was bad I couldn't have envisioned how bad it'd get. Finally got a good bite on an ol monster and set the hook and blam my 4 month old falcon lowrider somehow jumped outta my hand. Got the light turned on just in time to see my rod getting drug to its final resting place. Thought about bailing in after it but had my phome in my pocket. By then it was too late. Has this ever happened to anyone else??

Next theres going to be a thread  "Has  this ever happened to you? " about catching a rod and reel with a fish on it .

I had a channel cat yank my rod in the water . I just set it down for a few seconds to do something and off it went .I dove in head first and got it .

I should've dove in but my mind told me that if I dove in and ruined my phone and didn't manage to get my rod I was out way more money. Hopefully the line broke and somebody will catch the rod. But with the amount of brush around I'd imagine the rod got caught and broke.

Once while night-fishing with my bro for freshwater drum we had a similar scenario happen.  Just started wrapping things up and were putting what was left of the crayfish we had back into our minnow traps when we heard a klang and then a splash.  We had bells on our rods to alert us of bites.  We rushed over and the rod was gone.  After 3 minutes of probing the shallow water around the shore we found it sitting on some underwater rocks inches from teetering into the drop-off.  I picked it up, handed it to my brother, and he proceeded to land a late night 6 lber.  Fun to catch but that's about it.

I had a catfish pull a cane pole off the dock one cold night when I was 15 or so. I jumped right in and chased it around since it floated. I would almost catch it and the fish would take off again.I finally caught up with it and headed down the road to the house. Absolutedly the coldest Ive ever been in my life.Air temperature was around 28 when I jumped in,but I got the pole back with the fish!

with my disabilities I have to be careful. the sensitivity in my hands are weak. on he first trip with my new g loomis imx and revo stx a fish pulled it right out of my hands. I was lucky enough to grab it before it got away. my heart stopped for a moment I think. if I would have lost it  the lake water level would have raised from a grown man crying.:cry4:

i dropped my rod in 2 weeks ago luckily after removing the hook from a good sized bass. My excitement obviously turned to distraction. So I snorkeled for it the next day and found it on my second dive. On a private pond.

I've lost a few rods overboard, but never on a hookset.

My Nitro Z7 has very short side rails on the front deck. We were out fishing one evening and I had several rods out on the deck. I landed a LM and when I was getting him off the hooked he fell on to the deck of the boat. He started flopping around and was heading for the water. On his way out of the boat he smacked my rods and knocked 2 of them off and in to the water. I was lucky enough to hit the floor fast enough to reach in and grab them. Close call but almost lost 2 that way. I don't understand why the made the rails so stinking short on that boat. You really have to be careful to not knock your gear in.

and now we know why my phone stays in the truck.

I lost a St. Croix Mojo and ambassadeur 4600c4 when I was casting a Trap and caught the guide on the rod. watched it sail a good 40 yards into the Stick Marsh. looked for hours, still there as far as I know.   4 years and counting.......still check when I go out there.........12-15 times a year.
