Help with algae bloom

Today i went and fished a lake that is is know for big bags but today it was tough and had algae bloom going on used a chatter bait with a green pumpkin zman shadz on it and only had one bite i will be up there next weekend again amd have no idea what to try

I also threw a ned rig and a weight less senko. Like i said i will be on the same lake woth the same person in a week he likes to fish fast

Did the bloom just happen...like within the past 24-48 hours? And was the lake pretty clear before the bloom?

 

If so, I have always found this to be a mini-transitional period and they shut down hard.

 

If not, and the bloom has been around for a while...........go to the bank or any place with grass. When we get blooms here it means the jig and crankbait bite is about to pick up, but you got to allow time to let the fish move and set up. There are three types of bass in my area lakes, and seeing as your from Minn. I am assuming a lot of this will apply to your natural weedy lakes as well.

 

You got the shallow resident fish, who will become more aggressive as their homes are invaded by other bass and bait looking for cover as they come in from the depths and low light/oxygen levels created by the bloom. You'll have the resident mid depth grass fish, whom will also do the same as the shallow fish, as the grass provides cover, oxygen, shelter for bait, and all of a sudden will be filled up with strange bass. And then you have the invaders....all the bass and bait that are deep water fish that only come up to the grass/shallows to spawn OR when mother nature forces them to..like during a bloom. These fish are stupid, and usually big. During the peak of a heavy bloom here, it's often the best fishing of the summer.

The way the bite was yesterday i would assume that ot was a fresh bloom because not only did my boater and i have a rough day but another buddy of ours that was on the same lake later in the day yesterday and a rough outing as well.
