Welcome to the forum! This happened to me once. In my case, a screw had worked loose on the bottom of the trolling motor pedal that held the intermittent button tight. Not saying that's the problem, but it's a good place to start.

Hello Kimberly and Welcome to Bass Resource ~

Sounds like you may have a loose connection somewhere.

It could be a bad switch. Can you hear it click when you push on it?

I just went out (104 heat index, ha) and the toe switch (or whatever it is really called) is getting full volts but will not activate.  Since it costs $3, I ordered one.  Maybe that will fix it.  You guys are awesome with the quick replies.  I bought a 1995 Monark 160, 40 hp, two months ago.  Have replaced almost all wiring, electronics, even the fuse board.  I have learned a lot thanks to a friend.  Thankfully, the hull, deck, and motor are great (knock wood.)  I am certain I will have tons of questions in the future.  Again, thanks.  I will let you know if this helps.
