Hi guys, I love my Bass Raider but I think I want to add a kayak to my stable. I'm looking at the Pelican Catch 120 NXT. Has anyone on here used one? I need to stay under $1000. Small lakes, ponds, and rivers. Thanks.

I have the older generation of Pescador and it's been a good one. The main issue I have with it is the seat gets uncomfy after a couple hours on my old butt. But at least it has a padded seat and back support. It also doesn't lend itself well to standing. I'm not he most coordinated guy so I don't even try.

My next one will have a frame seat. But I'm looking at a higher end one next because I want it to get me into my retirement, which I expect to be about 10 years. If i were to get one right now it would be the NuCanoe Frontier fishing package. They're just so customizable.

I agree about the Frontier 12. I've had mine for a few years and it's excellent.

Since Kayak fishing has become so popular there are lots of outfitters/ outdoor stores that schedule on water demo days.. Check with some of your local suppliers like an REI or Cabelas etc. There are some fishing/ kayak guides that rent Kayaks, as well as hire for fishing trips.  This is good because you get to test out their boats and his engineering for rigging.  You may find you love some and hate the placement of something else. This way you can go in and choose a comfortable well aid out boat for yourself.

I have perception pescador pro 100 not 120.

I like it so far. It is stable enough and stadium style seat is comfortable enough to let me sit long hour. I can move around when sitting (lowestest setting) and don't feel any fear of flip over. On the other hand on higher seat set up (very comfort while fishing) I flipped once trying to move or grabbed something in tank well. My pro 100, I can stand a little for stretching or cast a line out, but fight with fish while standing

i don't think so.

The bad part, the two rod holder on pescador which are molded in, are really useless, they are too shallow and two wide. The battery compartment which is nice but water can get in if you flip the boat. The in-haul storage open wide inside you can fit a few rods in there but to me is useless, I wish they include dry bag where I can store car key and my phone instead.

The reason the Catch interests me is that it is seriously stable. I don't watch to flip over when I haul in that six pounder... ha ha ha

If you can shell out 100-300 more I would go with the feel free lure 10 or 11.5. This is honestly the best paddle fishing kayak on the market and with the overdrive system coming out and there new torpedo yak they will easily be the top brand fishing kayaks! Stable, strong, spacious and the most comfortable kayak chair ever invented! Seriously take a look at them and save a little more and get that you won't regret it.

Congrat, so you are my big brother now haha. Post pic and set up once you get settle in. I've heard the pro 120 is more stable and you can stand and fish easier than 100.

I had a Pro 100 and it was a great boat. If it was the 12 footer I would probably still have it. I am about a year or so away from buying my step son one and when he gets ready I will be looking for another Pescador Pro 100 since they can be found for $400ish.

Anyways, congrats and I am sure you will love it.

I'm getting excited. If all goes as planned, I'll be getting another one for my son.
