weekend_hooker Posted July 19, 2017 Posted July 19, 2017 Can anyone tell me a reliable supplier of lead ingots on either e-bay or if you have ever used roto-metals. I was noticing they have pure lead nuggets. Wondering if anyone has every used these? Quote
cadman Posted July 19, 2017 Posted July 19, 2017 I have been using Roto-metals for several years now, top notch service and excellent pure clean lead. I believe if you order a certain weight you even get free shipping. The nice thing about Roto-metals, is you know what you are getting. Buying lead on e-bay can be a crap-shoot and if you get bad lead, you have to deal with shipping and returning it. Smalljaw67 buys lead from Roto-Metals as well and I'm sure he will post his take on them. Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted July 19, 2017 Posted July 19, 2017 I use to get Bismuth from Roto Metals. Its probably the best place on the net. I would not do the ebay deal. You might get stuck with wheel weight lead with a bunch of junk in it. Quote
Super User smalljaw67 Posted July 20, 2017 Super User Posted July 20, 2017 Just like Cadman and Seibert Outdoors, I too buy my lead from Rotometals, I get both pure lead and 3%-5% antimony added to make custom alloys. The price is good and you won't have any problems with it, and it can save you money as I know several people that have ruined their melting pots by using scrap lead and not knowing what was in it. weekend_hooker Posted July 20, 2017 Author Posted July 20, 2017 Thanks everyone for the replies. I just bought my pot and molds this week and didn't want to start out with a headache. Quote

Have you ever used the lead nuggets? I am kinda confused after reading their page, there is this, Lead Mini Ingot Pure 99.9% ~ 1 Pound and then there is this one, Pure Soft Lead Metal 99.9% ~ 5 Pounds. I guess what I am asking is what is the difference? Quote
Super User smalljaw67 Posted July 27, 2017 Super User Posted July 27, 2017 Buy 5 pounds as the price is better. There is no difference as it is all pure, clean lead, the only difference is the size. The more you buy the cheaper it gets. Quote
Super User Munkin Posted July 28, 2017 Super User Posted July 28, 2017 Junk lead is a pain to deal with unless you know what you are getting into. To start order some clean lead from rotometals like suggested to keep the headaches down. I use a lot of lead that was given to me which is why I deal with the problems. Quote
