I would use the canoe as a near shore fishing platform as if wading the shoreline and make fan 10 to 12 pattern casts 180 degrees from in front parallel and work all the way around. Move foreword so the rear cast over laps where the 1st cast was. You wil know every piece of cover and structure along that area. You will also determine a active depth zone.

A topographic map would help to identify some good potential areas saving some time. You mark up the map with cover/ structure you have found and where you catch bass.

Use whatever lures work well at various depths, hard to beat T- rigged soft plastics and jigs.
