Looking at a new swimbait rod

Was looking into a new swimbait rod, won't get to deep into details, but I'm throwing 2-10oz baits when I do throw SBs. Particular Rod has caught my attention and it's the Okuma SBX. But there's not many reviews on it. Has anyone used this rod that's willing to share feedback? By the way I'm new to the site, and greetings from San Diego!

I recently bought an Okuma TCS Frog/Swimbait rod (up to 2 ounces) and I can only speak to that model. The rod is light; balanced (with a Lew's Tournament MB reel); tough; and in my opinion, casts like a dream.  It has one irritating attribute - the keeper for securing a lure has given me some grief.  It is located on the butt of the rod. Since I use rod holders on my kayak, I cannot use the keeper because the rod butt can't be placed in the rod holder when a lure is secured.  I'm not sure if this is important to you, but you might want to check on your model before you buy. Otherwise, I love my Okuma although I haven't tested it with a bass over two pounds.  The price was right and except for that one nuisance factor I'd give it a whole galaxy of stars if I was rating it.  Hope this helps.

2oz swimbaits and 10oz swimbaits will likely require two different rods. 

 

I can't comment on the model you mentioned, but Okuma has an awesome warranty, and I know many guys on here recommend Okuma swimbait rods.

10oz swimbait? that's the size of the bass I catch around my parts lol

Thank you for the review Grumpyphartte. @fishballer06 your absolutely right, and thanks! @Chance_Taker4 The bass are very large here in Southern California. Lakes are stocked with rainbow trout here in the winter times, and that's what the bass eat in the winter months. Look up Mike Long fishing, and working class zero fishing to see the fish out here. I've been averaging bass 5-6 pound range and have lost bigger ones at the boat.

And that's why I need to leave Ohio. 5lber is normally my event winner here but we fish lakes that are loaded with smallmouth more so than largemouth. Unfortunately when the ODNR stocks rainbow trout and yellow perch in the lakes and reservoirs here they do it right after the spawn and make it public knowledge. About three weeks after the stock they have all been fished out and there's nothing left for the bass to eat. Here in NW Ohio that care more about the Walleye and Catfish populations than Bass. But we make do with our 1/2-1oz swimbaits. As for your OP I have used the TCS like stated above and it is a great rod but can't say anything about a rod for 10oz baits.
