CTBassin860 Posted July 17, 2017 Posted July 17, 2017 So I was throwing the Spro rat 30 and landed a 3# bass. The fish put up a good fight through the pads and weeds. I had to wrench him through with my rod putting Strain on the line. Immediately after I couldn't cast without the line fluffing up every cast. I changed the internal brakes from 3 to 4 and readjusted the spool tension.Problem solved. I had no issues with the previous setting before landing that fish. I probably answered my own question already, but would that stretched out line have caused the line fluff?? The line is 13# Defier Armilo. Quote
Super User Team9nine Posted July 17, 2017 Super User Posted July 17, 2017 Shouldn't have, as far as I can tell. Nylon based lines usually don't permanently deform, or do so only minimally, and after your next cast, any built up tension should have been gone. Can't say I've ever experienced the same thing as what you're describing. Any chance you bumped some setting or spool control while winching the fish in? 1 Quote
swandog Posted July 17, 2017 Posted July 17, 2017 I have never heard of that causing backlashes. Could there have been a build up of gunk (weeds, moss, etc.) around one of the guides or Reel level wind? That will cause what you are describing. Quote

I thought so too.The first thing I did was tighten the spool tension. Still fluffed up. I have to take the side plate off to change the magnetics but checked that too just in case.I thought it was odd because of the nylon line.To have to change a full number on the dial threw me off.It wasn't windy either. 22 minutes ago, flyfisher said: yup ^^^ what he said. I didn't notice that either at first glance.Might have been further down. Quote
