Weedless Posted July 14, 2017 Posted July 14, 2017 Went to DSG last night, and found an 7' Med Fast action Field and Stream Tec Spec Elite Spinning rod on the clearance section. It was the last one and was on sale for $49 (originally $69), after further investigation, there was an additional 40% off.....I took that rod home for $35 out the door. I have heard only a few things about them, but we will see this weekend starting in 7.5 hours how it works, I am going to NEKO fish it, to really test the sensitivity and backbone when I set the hook with a slow/firm tightening and reeling hook set. I dont think I will be disappointed for a $35 rod. I will update you later on this uneducated impulse buy!! Quote
Subaqua Adinterim Posted July 14, 2017 Posted July 14, 2017 Very nice, I think that you will really like it. Had one for 2 years now and really like mine. It's the 7' MF model, blue with micro guides.; sharp looking rod. Not fond of micro guides in general, but that's not a big deal as everything else about this rod is outstanding. Good luck with your fishing this weekend. Quote
sully420 Posted July 14, 2017 Posted July 14, 2017 I have the 6'10" casting version of that rod and am very happy with it. Its not great an anything but its good and very durable. And for 35 bucks you cant go wrong. Quote
DaleGribble Posted July 15, 2017 Posted July 15, 2017 Love those rods. Ive tried the tec spec line from the infernos up to the arsenals. The elite are amazing rods for the price. Light and very sturdy for the price. SIC guide inserts, and good grips. I like the arsenals better but DSG stopped making them a while ago and they were more expensive anyways. Overall awesome rods as long as you can deal with blue rods. Quote
GaterB Posted July 15, 2017 Posted July 15, 2017 Just snagged an Arsenal marked to 19.95 the other day. Love the rod at that price, especially with Fuji K guides! Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted July 16, 2017 Posted July 16, 2017 Those guides alone retail for $25. 1 Quote
OnthePotomac Posted July 16, 2017 Posted July 16, 2017 I picked up a Field and Stream 7' MH baitcaster 8 years ago on a super sale ($60) and the thing has turned out to be a beast. Love it. I have even used it for frog fishing. Quote
Weedless Posted July 17, 2017 Author Posted July 17, 2017 Update: I caught 17 bass this weekend using only NEKO rig. I was very pleased with he sensitivity of the rod even with the winds being a factor. I am very pleased overall.....even though I didn't win my tournament (5th).... 1 Quote
