Super User Koz Posted July 14, 2017 Super User Posted July 14, 2017 This ties in to fishing, I swear. I happen to be a Baseball Dad and a baseball coach to my son and every now and then I look out for giveaways, especially with Wilson Ball Gloves because they occasionally give away $400 baseball gloves. One of the promotions they have is Wilson Wednesdays where you submit a picture. This week they were giving away a custom A2000 special edition All Star Game glove. This is the glove they gave out to MLB All Star players that wear Wilson gloves. Anyway, this afternoon I get a message on Twitter from Wilson. I didn't win the glove but I did win some shirts and All Star swag with the picture below that we took at one of the lagoons that we fish. It's been blazing hot hear lately and other than a few two pounders the other day we haven't caught much so the pic was truly our best catch of the day. Here's the Twitter link from Wilson: https://twitter.com/wilsonballglove/status/885597763437723648 15 Quote
Willerman Posted July 14, 2017 Posted July 14, 2017 Very cool. I had an A2000 throughout highschool and still use it to toss the ball around... great pic. 1 Quote
Super User Jigfishn10 Posted July 14, 2017 Super User Posted July 14, 2017 Man, is that cool or what! I bet your son is going to be one excited ball player when all that gear shows up! Congrats to you and your son. Quote

What was really nice is that when I was communicating with Wilson Ball Gloves via Twitter messaging when they asked me what shirt size I wanted I told them this was for my son so a youth XL or adult small will be fine. The Wilson rep then asked me if I wanted a shirt for myself as well. That was pretty cool. They didn't have to do that and I was definitely not expecting that. I'm excited to see what they send us. My son is working on his "Thank You" note to them right now even though we haven't received anything yet! 3 Quote

He needed a good glove . All he did was play ball , I fished to much . Quote
Smokinal Posted July 15, 2017 Posted July 15, 2017 Baseball Dad checking in. Had coached my son all through the years now he's playing NCAA in college; uses an A2000 as well. Pic is definitely an ESPN top 10! 2 Quote

My son is only 11 (that's his A1K on the hook) and his goal is to play for the University of South Carolina. Of course, he wants an A2000 or A2K but I've told him he's too young for a $400 "forever glove". The only way he gets one is staying on honor roll from now until high school and making his high school team. 2 Quote
Smokinal Posted July 15, 2017 Posted July 15, 2017 He plays for Thomas College in Maine. He's getting his degree in Criminal Justice, then in going to join the NAVY and become a SEAL. He has an affection for gloves. He has 9 and, for the longest time, wouldn't even let anyone put their hand in a couple of them. He has a break in process he goes through and he has them perfectly fit his hand; like a glo... well you know. 1 Quote
Super User Koz Posted July 18, 2017 Author Super User Posted July 18, 2017 We got our All Star Game swag from Wilson Ball Gloves today: Two shirts, a cap, and a bobblehead of Shigeaki Aso. No, Aso isn't an MLB pitcher from Japan. He's Wilson's Glove Guru. He's a Master Glove Maker, responsible for many of the Wilson models. If you're a top MLB ballplayer that wears the Wilson brand and your glove needs new laces, replacement leather, or you're breaking in a new glove he'll fly out to your city and work on your glove. Anyway, it was a cool gift package - but it's not the A2000 glove my son was hoping for. I'll have to try and come up with another creative photo and see if we can win the big prize in the future. FWIW, I've entered this #WilsonWednesday giveaway 5 or 6 times before and this is the first time we won anything. We did win an MLB Play Ball shirt and gift package last year. 3 Quote

Happy about the swag, but unhappy that his favorite Yankee prospect, Blake Rutherford, was traded to the White Sox last night. We met him earlier this year and he invited us to come up to see him again and hang out. Trip was planned for the end of the month but now he's traded. #BaseballLife Quote
