Good evening!

I have a strange issue with my Daiwa Steez SV LTD 105 XHL.

I can cast 4 gram (1/7) hard plastic without a backlash with the magnetic break in the zero. I am not all that good, I know that.

I cannot find the issue. Everything seems to be working properly. However the mag break seems to be acting way too strong.

And the bearings are brand new Hedgehog Studio Air BFS...

Can you guys help me with this?

I am assuming the cast control cap is set properly as well? or is this one of the reels that the cast control cap is sort of set in a "permanent" position to where it doesn't need any adjustment?

If the brakes are two are set to what I think you are describing as the off position, and everything else is in check you may want to try swapping out for a heavier bait as option number one. I believe 1/8 is going to be near the bottom of the range for that reel or any SV 105 reel for that matter. The second option would be to check the inductor to make sure it is not stuck or not functioning properly.

Also note that SV reels as whole are "Stress Free Versatile". This essentially translates into hard to backlash and as  result they are typically not long bomber/distance type of reels. Some folks have swapped out various pieces (I believe inductor springs) to adjust the brake force to gain more distance.

Good morning Kicker, thank you for the comments!

Yes, the cast control is set like in the way Daiwa recommends (one click back after the spool stops to move sideways).

The mag break adjustment goes from off to 10. The funny thing is that before I had several backlashes. Than I cleaned like I always do,

and this time it stopped to backlash at all. Even with lures around 10 grams (3/8).

To have a backlash I need to really put force in the cast, even in the off setting.

With the 4 g lure I can cast around 20 meters with this, with difficulty, I

Do you have the right rod for throwing such light lures?

On 0 you should have to use your thumb. Sv spool or not. Put the brakes on 10 and see wht happens. I've had 1st gen Steez and tdz mess up and the brakes became backwards. 0 was max and 10 was min. I had to replace to inner mag ring. It's like a $20 part.

Hi Rippin-lips I tryed what you said. First, I figured out that the break don't go all the way to 10. It stops at 8.

But at the maximum it would reduce the distance quite a lot.

I opened the break side and found what can be a problem. The part that hold the magnet don't allow the break adjestment go go all the way to both sides. What I mean. If I adjust the magnet with the off in poisition. I would not be able to get all the way to 10. Same thing if i do it starting the adjustment with the 10 on it.

Can you post a couple of pictures? That will help us figure this out. Sounds like you need to resemble the magnet ring assembly, and/or reglue the magnet ring to the plastic toothed ring.

I need to see pics to understand what you're trying to say. From there I can offer up more help.

Sounds like your mag ring was not installed at zero.  A pic of full and off setting should show it on the plastic stops.  Had this happen once when swapping the side plate on ITO alphas.  I took it back appart and the second try it was right.
