The glory days of boxing are over, for now.  I hope the sport can revive but considering the 'promoters' that currently rule the roost I doubt it.    Gone are the days of Ali, Frasier, Holmes, Duran, Chavez, Hagler, Hearns, Tyson...I could go one but it only upsets me.

Lol I don't think that's quite the same comparison . I'd like to see Mayweather get in the octagon. Haha. Then this conversation would be much different.

I think pacquiao would have beat Mayweather if he would have tried harder.. but nope he got in there and went through the motions and let Mayweather win, all while he got the biggest check of his life... That's why one of his first comments after the fight was "I'm going on vacation" .

Mcgregor will do the same.  Take the loss and the biggest check of his life. I won't be ordering the fight.

I'd rather watch a replay of Lile Alzado box Ali.

I forgot all about that. Wow, talk about a blast from the past. I remember thinking that Alzado fought like a 9 yr old kid fighting his dad.

I for one am not a fan of UFC.  I see that as the younger generation's combat sport.

I'm not a UFC guy at all either. Its boxing for me all the way. I miss watching guys like Marco Antonio Barrera,Erik Morales, and Diego Corrales.Used to be some really good fights.Unfortunately it's a dying sport.

Dad and I were ringside for Morales/Pacquiao I.  What a battle that was.  The entire fight card that night was exceptional.  It was our first time at a major prize fight and we were fortunate enough to be 1 row back from the ring.  A night neither one of us will ever forget.

I love mma. Hate Mayweather. That said unless mcgregor gets unbelievably lucky or floyd dives for a ton of money it shouldn't even be close. Put em in a cage and Floyd hasn't a chance. I wouldn't bet on it but I'll probably watch. Like a lot of ppl have said it's entertainment

I think that is the draw for most people too. Pure entertainment. Seeing what happens when you put a MMA fighter in a ring with a boxer. In the early days of UFC you had such matchups but it was in an octagon with MMA rules. Usually the guy with judo/jujutsu training won because he could easily take the boxer to the ground and wrap him up. But this is a different situation with a non-traditional boxer in McGregor having to box Mayweather. I may not buy the ppv but will definitely be interested in the outcome.

Great minds think alike, and so do you and I.

Mcgregor is a 3-4 round athlete.  Add in the fact that he's all heart and he'll be gassed by the 6th.  Mayweather can easily pot shot points for a win on the scorecards but will push for a KO if he sees the opportunity.  Contrary to everyone's belief there is a much better chance of Mayweather winning by KO than McGregor.
