Mods, if this is not appropriate please discard. 

This dude, Cameron Smith (Captain Cam), is going around pushing for the killing of bass to protect the salmon, trout and kokanee. he is holding derbies and encouraging people to keep/kill the bass per Facebook posts. Any truth to this? I found this article but it does not talk about the removal of the bass like on FB. I hope this is a lie.

I saw the numerous postings by this guy on Facebook. I went as far to even post screenshots of them to the California Department of Fish & Wildlife. Upon looking over their page, about a dozen other guys had also done the same. I really hope they can stop this guy.

Berryessa was filled after the Montecelo dam was constructed 1957 on Putah creek, famous for it's glory hole spillway. It's always been a warm water fishery.

I know we can keep bass to eat, the state allows, I think, 5 here in California. These poachers are not breaking the law if they keep their five. But, morally and ethically, it's wrong, I think. That I know of, no law has been broken but the purpose is not right.

5 Bass 12" or longer, combination  of LMB, SML or Spotted  freshwater bass daily limit unless a special slot size or 3 bass limit for a specific lake or river is in affect. Bass are a renewable resource and harvesting them for a food source isn't unthical, it's legal.

I am a early pioneer of C & R for bass and condemned for writing articles to WON and B.A.S.S. in '69 suggesting modern bass fishing could harm the big bass population by over harvesting. Times have changed and today you are condemned for suggesting to eat a few legal size bass.
