Want to make sure I got the right rods

Just picked up a couple new set ups. I've always had medicore/beginner spinning rods and reels and finally dropped some money on rods and reels. I am not a great fisherman, but love to do it. And newer to the terminology as I've always just fished.

 

First is a G.Loomis 6'6" e6x "walleye" medium fast action rod. With a shimano nasci 2500 which will be used as my walleye rod using mainly twister tails, small rapala's, meps, spinners and sometimes minnows, with trolling sometimes. 95% are between 1-2lbs with the occasional pike. 

 

Second is a St. Croix 7' Avid X medium fast action rod with a shimano stradic CI4+ 2500. This rod will be used mainly for bass. Mostly twister tails, spinners, little top water (hula poppers, jitterbugs), worm. 

 

Like i I said I am newer to fishing and first time buying good rods, and reels. Want to make sure it sounds about right. Was going go medium heavy for the bass rod but the guys I was talking to said it sounded like I should just go medium here too!

 

both spinning rods!! Went with a medium on the bass rod cause was told st. croix are a little heavier so medium will act almost as a medium heavy with great sensitivity

St Croix combo is perfect I use one similar for wacky worms, light Jigs and Texas Rigs, shaky heads, even Keitech swing impacts Throw some 10# braid with a 6-8# Fluoro leader and go have some fun

Those two are very good. That is a terrific start for a serious arsenal.

 

When you are ready to add another weapon I would look at a baitcaster. I would go look at a Dobyns Sierra SA 734C or Champion XP DC 734C. That is a super versatile rod that will handle bass lures such as spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, jigs, some larger topwater bait ( compared to your Avid X) even some toads like a Stanley MR. Ribbitt.  It will also handle some bigger stuff for the walleyes. You could easily fish some mid sized Rapala minnow baits and even a spoon too.  I would match that up with a Daiwa Tatula CT in a 6.3-1 or 7.3-1 ratio.

Awesome thanks guys! Only thing I changed due to balance was the nasci is now on the st. croix and the CI4+ is now on the g.loomis. 

 

Threw some 15lbs braid on the st. croix with an 8lbs Fluoro leader today. And just fluoro on the loomis as I ran out of braid. Will change it over too

 

next will definitely be a bait caster, trying one out next weekend

Well got to test my rods out this weekend and play with a baitcaster most of last week (while at work lol). I have never fished using senko's either but after some good reading on here I got myself some before my weekend away at the cottage.

 

both rods preformed flawlessly and woe what a difference when you step up in price compared to what I use to use! Got on some decent small and large mouth bass, from 1.75-2lbs range up to 4.75-5.5lbs range! Most being 2-3lbs which was great! They couldn't resist the senko's and both rods were amazing! Time to get me a baitcaster
