I recently purchased a new St.Croix medium, extra fast 6' 8" casting rod at a tremendous price from the factory. I think i just had to get it after seeing it lol. What are some things you guys might use this rod for? And suggestions are greatly appreciated. Currently has a Daiwa Alphas 103 F on it.

Would braid be a bad choice on this rod?

weightless and lightly-weighted plastics and any kind of hardbaits you would fish with a popping/walking/jerking/twitching action, like topwaters and jerkbaits up to about 5/8oz.

I have St Croix Mojo bass rod with the same specs. I use it for weightless stick baits and flukes. I use 40# braid with a 12# or 15# flouro leader and its works great. Those 6'8" medium/xf rods are made for jerkbaits and topwaters but most walking style top waters exceed 5/8 ounces.
