i've never once had an issue on here with posting photos, but looks like in the last couple weeks it's happened to a lot of people.  i have a max total size of .49MB right now and have only used 37% of my attachment quota.  i'm almost certain that up until a couple of weeks ago i was able to load up to 7MB at a time.  did something change or do i need to change something to get back to where i was?  appreciate the help!

Good point, I just noticed that as well and thought that perhaps our attached limit had been reduced.

The site is running slow on mobile and desktop regardless of browser I'm using too. I imagine the photo issue is a server space storage issue or something along those lines, but would be nice to confirm.....

It's been running very slow for me also.

The picture Issue Is that of storage I believe. I have had to upload from camera to laptop and then upload to my albums. That seemed to cure that Issue.

Frankly it has to be an issue or I feel that someone would have answered either this post or the many I've seen in other threads on the same issue that just recently popped up.

Any light you can shed @Glenn ?

If you like posting pictures on the web, I suggest investing in some photo editing software (I use Photoshop Elements) that you can use to crop and resize your pictures and then use a free hosting service like Tinypic.  I crop my pictures to remove unwanted empty spaces and zoom in on my subject and then change the resolution to 72dpi and a picture size of around 8x10. No matter how many pixels your camera is capable of capturing, the Internet still only needs 72 dpi at best. These resized pictures will reduce the amount of space the photo takes up drastically with no visible change on the screen. Uploading the picture to a free site like Tinypic only takes a few seconds and the reduced size uploads quickly. My full size originals stay on my computer where I don't have to pay to store them.

Scott I've done cropping and resizing on nearly every image I've uploaded to the site, the problem being I seem to have gone from 7mb loads at a time to .49 which even after resizing and all that only seems to allow me about 1 picture possibly 2 if they're the smallest ones.

It seems apparent that there has been a change because folks like me who have been on here for a while and made a post or two are now having issues whereas there were no issues before.

I have been a mod on a couple larger forums.

In our cases, the pic issue and running slow was indicative of a needed upgrade.

The last time it happened on a large cigar forum, a lot of info was lost in the migration.

Usually notice is given by admins and mods.

If this happens, I recommend backing up everything you deam  important.

Not saying this is the case here, but this was the precursor the last 2 times a picture issue and slowdowns happened.

ME TOO!!!  Was going to post a thread asking about it...

Pages take a long time and even fail to load at times.

Hey guys -

Wanted you to know that I think I found the culprit. Cpanel installed an instance of solr and auto-enabled it, and that sucked up all the resources.  It's been KO'd now.

Took awhile to slueth it, but I think the issue is fixed now.

Thanks for your patience!

Pages certainly seem to be loading faster Glenn, nice work.

It does still look like the photo max size is .49MB though, should that have changed or should I expect it to remain around that size for a max file load?

Thank you sir!

Still running slow for me. Both PC and mobile

Yeah buddy - painfully slow.  Couldn't even access it at home last night, and we have the fastest internet possible due to wife's work needs.

Does seem to have slowed back down a bit from Glenn's fix yesterday, was working great right after he did his magic.
