greentrout Posted July 16, 2017 Posted July 16, 2017 Have caught more bass with Rapala Rattlin' Rapalas than any other lipless crankbait. That's my mileage... 1 Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted July 16, 2017 Super User Posted July 16, 2017 This covers it for me - my PB came on a 3/4 SK Red Eye Shad in Sexy Shad. So there's my vote. The 1/2 model (various colors) may see more in the water time throughout the year than any bait I throw. A-Jay 3 Quote

Super User scaleface Posted July 16, 2017 Super User Posted July 16, 2017 This is my favorite lipless bait . The silent model that ticks like a one knocker . 1 Quote

Comfortably Numb Posted July 17, 2017 Posted July 17, 2017 Yes. I think I have a tutorial in Luremaking section 1 Quote
BASS302 Posted July 17, 2017 Posted July 17, 2017 Thanks. I just took a look. I guess I missed the latest on that. Great stuff! Quote

I picked up 2 Rippin Raps tonight to add to my arsenal - Chrome Blue and Helsinki Shad. Going to try these out first thing in the morning Quote
Super User the reel ess Posted August 11, 2017 Super User Posted August 11, 2017 It was the gold/black back until I used a Cordell Super Spot in the same pattern. I can't tell any difference in the action, but the Spot's gold is "golder" and it gets more bites. I still love the gold Trap and the H2O Express in gold is a pretty good option for half the price, but the finish isn't durable. Quote
uncle reddog Posted August 11, 2017 Posted August 11, 2017 Duo Realis G-fix in American shad color in the fall and the original Bill Lewis in blue back, chrome with an orange belly any other time. Quote

snake95 Posted August 11, 2017 Posted August 11, 2017 Another vote for the RES. I mostly fish small shallow ponds and throw the 1/2 oz, but still throw the 3/4 oz and burn it to keep it from hitting bottom. They kill it. Quote
Super User Choporoz Posted August 11, 2017 Super User Posted August 11, 2017 It depends...I don't have just one. At the risk of over simplification.... -Mostly straight retrieve...little yo-yo-ing: Bill Lewis -1/2 oz plus - usually RES, but some Lucky Craft and 1-knockers -less than 1/2 oz - almost always Lucky Craft -- this is one category where I've found nothing close ....LVR-Mini and LV50 easily outfish any other small lipless that I've tried. (Although, I do have a very old tiny Cotton in a bleeding shad pattern that has some pretty impressive numbers of little smallies and bluegills to its credit.) -Floaters - Bill Lewis Quote
beginningfisherman Posted August 11, 2017 Posted August 11, 2017 I've done the best with a red eye shad for largemouth and a rapala rippin rap for smallies. I assume it's like anything you throw, it's all about what you are confident in! 1 Quote
