Hi everyone. I recently purchased a jig, it's brown and orange ish with green sparkles . As a trailer I got a sungill zoom baby brush hog. It matches PERFECT, but they're "limited editions" and they probably won't be available in a while. So I was just wondering if I could put a greenish trailer on an orange trailer. I live in a pretty clear lake so it troubles me a little that the bass might be able to see the difference and be skeptical about hitting them. Hopefully you guys can help me !

Thanks,,

I normally try to keep the colors close, but I definitely agree with these guys. Don't be afraid to throw a new color combination!

If you purchased 1 jig don't worry about trailer colors, think about buying a least 6 more if you plan on catching bass. Matching the trailer to skirt colors and contrasting trailer color to the skirt can both be effective....trail and error is the only way you can determine what bass want.

Welcome.

Jig and trailer color combinations are near the bottom of the list of things that you should concern yourself with, IMO.  There may be times when color will determine your overall success, but fish location, the fall rate and even the trailer's action or lack of, will be the factors that determine your success on a regular basis. I've used everything from the tail section of a worm to a lighter, trailer less jig after depleting my supply of a certain trailer and continued to catch fish.

My favorite jig skirt colors are a combination of black, purple and brown. What my routine is with trailer colors is start with 1 of the colors depending on light conditions.

The lower the light the darker the color; low light black, bright light purple, in between brown. I then rotate those colors until 1 works.

Homemade grasshopper colored jig with a blue pork trailer, sometimes it's better NOT to match :)
