Any of you put any electronics or trolling motors off the side? Ive been looking at some of the motor mounts and some clamp on fish finders myself. Quote

I am going to buy the trolling motor this spring (you won't need a separate mounting bracket for the fish finder if you use a trolling motor). Also, based on Avid's advice, I am going to get outriggers / stabilizers this spring. As for electronics, I have a portable Eagle Cuda 242. I read some very favorable reviews on kayak forums about this portable fish finder. I haven't used it much (yet) but plan on using it a ton this year. I ran out of room on my crate, but I've got them mounted elsewhere on the raft. What is the platform that you have your depth finder mounted on? It sorta looks like the center console of a car. Inside, the transducer, battery pack, and power cord are stored. The whole console is velcroed to a small plywood ledge that I attached to my crate with an L-bracket. BTW, how do you power your fish finder? Also, what kind of inflatable raft do you use? Does you have a trolling motor attached to it? Quote

My boat is a Sea Eagle 9. www.seagle.com/motormountboat.aspx It is the Fisherman's package located at the bottom of the page. Sea Eagle wanted $250 for the floor-boards and bench seats, so I made them myself for about $30. I also constructed a set of transom-mounted wheels that allow me to get the boat in and out of the water when loaded. They are a pain to use, so I am going to redesign them. Quote

Rattlinrogue Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 I mainly fish out of a boat,but when I float a river or creek I use a canoe.For many years that's what I used everywhere and caught as many bass then as I do now.A bad back prevents me from using the canoe more often.It'll go places that a bass boat only dreams about!When I do float a creek or river,I keep it basic.No fancy electronics.A tackle box,two rod and reel combos,an anchor and rope,and a stadium seat for that bad back. I made a trolling motor bracket out of hardwood, attaches to the canoe by clamping 2 aluminum brackets (with1/4x20 bolts and wingnuts) to the sides of the canoe( gunnels?) I dont have stabilizers but i still ca fish standing up if it's not too windy. Sorry, I dont have pics at this moment, and everything is burried somewhere in the garage. Quote
