I'm looking to get a new spinning rod. Under $100. However, with the current sales, I could perhaps get a deal on a rod that is normally over $100 but under $100 with the current sale. I have some giftcards from Tackle Warehouse that I bought for 10% off, so combined with their current 15% off, it'd be 25% off. Or if any other website has a good deal on rods.

This rod will be used for mostly 5" Senkos and Zoom Super Flukes, so perhaps medium weight?

What would be the best Spinning Rod under $100?

I don't own any spinning models but I have 2 casting rods and I see them recommended alot- Dobyn's Fury probably the 703.

I recently purchased a st Croix mojo wacky 6'8" m-xf that I am quite fond of. Perfect for soft plastics finesse techniques, for me anyways. With sales it should be around your price point.

Are the Mojo bass rods better or worse than the Premiers? I see they are about the same price.

I believe the premiere is scII and the mojo is scIII which is higher level of graphite. The mojo felt better in hand to me. I also liked the avid x but a little bit more expensive that what I wanted to spend.

SCIII is better than SCIII even though they are the same price?

Correct, It also comes down to the guides, cork used, place of production, etc.

Best bet to hold them in store if you can. I have no regrets with the mojo bass spinning rod.

For what it's worth I paired this with a Pflueger president xt size 30 spinning reel with 10 lb braid and 8 lb fluorocarbon leader. I am very happy.

I would go for a Dobyns Fury FR 703 SF. On Tackle Warehouse it is referred to as a 7 foot medium. It normally sells for $110. That would make it around $85. That rod fishes more like a $200 rod in other brands.

Match that up with a nice Pflueger President reel and you will have an awesome combo.

TW has 15% off sale and Okuma spinning rods for under $70.

Agree the Dobyns Fury rods with 15% off would be a good choice.

You made a typo or didn't pay close attention.  Premier is from SCII blanks.  Mojo is from SCIII blanks.  Quite a few guys on here use St. Croix rods so they can give you good information on these models.  I held the Premier and the older Mojo in store and preferred the Premier.  I have not held any of the new Mojo rods, but opinions I've read have been extremely favorable for the new blanks.  Based (only) on what I have read, I would go with the new Mojo rod over the Premier.

I used to fish 3 St Croix baitcasting rods. Since I started fishing Powell, Irod and Dobyns I sold off all of my St Croix rods. I just prefer the others much better.  I have fished one of the newer St Criox Avid Xs and still preferred my rods more. It is all personal preference of course.

Thanks! I ordered the Dobyns for myself and the Mojo Bass for my friend.

You are going to be amazed by the sensitivity and balance of the rod. That balance thing is hard to explain but once you fish all day with it you will appreciate it for sure. I have had several members come back and tell me how different it felt, but that is something Gary Dobyns strives for in every rod he sells.

Thanks!

All of my rods are Cabelas Tournament ZX which I love (except the end of the handles tend to come off), but I'm excited to try a new rod.

Weird how his spinning rods go from like $110 to $259. No in-between rod.

That is not true. Gary sells the Fury for $110, then the Sierra spinning rods for $159 to $169.

The Champion XP spinning rods go for $229 to $250.

My wife owns a Sierra SA 705SF for her heavy action rod. She can use it to throw hollow bodied frogs, big jigs and carolina rigs. It specs as a 7 foot heavy fast and rates for baits thst weigh between 3/8 to 1 1/4.

She loves that thing. It is matched up with a Pflueger Supreme 35 series reel. It pull in as much line as my 8-1 Tatula Type R baitcasting reel.

O, TW apparently doesn't carry the Sierras. My bad.

Yes they do.   Go to TW and click on spinning rods, then select Daiwa. It will open to all the Daiwa spinning rods. The Sierra rods are located to the left of the Fury rods.

Yep, you're right. Weird I didn't see it when I looked.
