Super User Montanaro Posted July 2, 2017 Super User Posted July 2, 2017 If you arent using tungsten dropshot weights then you are missing opportunities to catch fish! I have been using tungsten for a year and yesterday ran out of a certain size so switched to my leads. Night and Day I can feel every blade of grass, every stick, every rock with tungsten. I feel nothing with lead. If you cant feel a rock or a stick you won't be able to suspend your lure in/on cover as effectively triggering strikes. If yall arent on the tungsten ds train you better hurry Quote
bigturtle Posted July 3, 2017 Posted July 3, 2017 sounds like your rod is not sensitive enough if you truely can't feel anything with lead. 1 Quote
PaFrogThrower9 Posted July 3, 2017 Posted July 3, 2017 I feel everything just fine with lead. Also i save a buttload on weights beings you end up looking so many of them. I do use Tungsten for everything else though. Quote

Big big difference between two metals. Tungsten shouldn't be only used for pitchin and punching. Love it on a swinging football head too. Quote
BassGirl71 Posted July 4, 2017 Posted July 4, 2017 I used to use all lead, and there are times I do notice a difference with tungsten. But I now throw almost only limestone drop shot sinkers. They are really sensitive and no "toxic lead" issues when I lose them. Plus they are way less expensive than tungsten. Quote

I've been using RockyBrook Sinkers for a few years now. I use the drop shot weights and the swivel weights for my jika rigs and some Texas rigs where I don't want the weight pegged. I also use the bullet weights for my C-rigs. They have a completely different sound, obviously, and I catch a lot of fish with them. Quote

I fish a quarry that's full of limestone, I wonder if I can make my own 1 Quote
