Yudo1 Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 I might take my yak up to presque on the 4th of July. Are there any smallies left in the bay? Quote
HookRz Posted July 3, 2017 Posted July 3, 2017 Not a lot. There are always the overlooked largemouth though. Odd thing about the bay, you can catch 3-4# LM in numbers but rarely catch a five. I've lived in Erie all my life and all the 6 pound plus LMB I've caught in NWPA have come from the inland lakes. 1 Quote

I wouldn't mine 3-4lb LM in numbers. Numbers are always fun. Quote
Super User Gundog Posted July 3, 2017 Super User Posted July 3, 2017 From everything I've read (I haven't fished Presque Isle ever) most of the smallies move out of the bay when the water gets hot. LM are probably your best bet in catching numbers. If you target LM look for grass, pads, logs and other cover that would be typical LM haunts. Quote
Super User fishballer06 Posted July 5, 2017 Super User Posted July 5, 2017 There are always some smallies around the chute into the main lake. But I'll agree with the others, you can load up on largemouth in the bay. 1 Quote
