I'm looking to buy a flat bottom jon boat, 14' and a 48" floor. In case I can't find a decent used one, which brands offer a good value in a new one? I'm open to a square front or a modified-V front. Most of the lakes I fish are 300 acres or less, so I'm leaning toward the square front. If I buy a new one, I would also buy a trailer with it, if that matters, as far as the boat manufacturer goes.

 Thanks for any advice.

Well maybe I can find you a fictitious deal in a fictitious town in NC, LOL

Anyway try looking at this one. It is a 16 footer but I think it is a good deal. It already has a trolling motor and a gas engine.

I found these with just a little looking on craigslist.  Take some time and look there yourself. When it comes to jon boats new is not always nnecessary

Thanks. I know new is not necessary, but used 1448 jons are hard to come by around me(my real home is in Wisconsin) !!

I'm in no hurry, but like I said above, just in case I can't find a decent used 1448.

Is there much difference in the quality and features of the new ones(Lowe, Lund, Alumacraft, etc)?

Ah Wisconsin is deep V country. It is hard to even find a good fiberglass boat out here. Check here

That looks like a nice rig there.

Yes some are nicer than others. For a jon I would try to stick to all welded boats, just my preference.  Lowe, Alumacraft, Polar Kraft, and G3 make some nice ones. Anything with the Lund name on it will be high quality and higher priced.

I would buy at a modified v hull over a flat bottom, it does make for less pounding on your back.

Most modern aluminum Jons  are excellent buys.

Personal I've ran Alweld, Weldbult, & Xpress

Currently running an Alweld 1652 mod-v tunnel hull with a Tohatsu 40 hp 4-stroke.
