Years ago my wife and I went up there along with a group of fishing guides we know.

We stayed in a little motel near the town of North East.  Now this was in the late 90's so I am sure it has grown up since then.  Their was a local Marina and ramp just south of the town of North East. We launched there and we also launched inside Presque Isle Bay State Park as well.  We went there on a day the wind was really bad out on the lake. We caught nice smallies, a couple of northern pike and a bunch of big panfish without leqaving the safety of the bay.  Lots of fun on a bad weather day, but boy the damage a pike can do to a good spinnerbait should be illegal! LOL

Since you will be covering new water, check out Angling Technologies on your browser. Ignore the offer to pay for a membership. Simply close that popup box and use the interactive map. It will allow you to zoom in on areas and get an idea where things are.  Navionics Webap is useful too. I use both to research new bodies of water before I travel anywhere.

Enjoy your trip

We have a skeeter bass boat with a Yamaha 2 stroke 90 on it. Best place to fish with this boat & not get pounded by the big waves ? Inside Presque isle bay ?

There are a bunch of launches around the Presque Isle area. Finding one shouldn't be an issue for you at all. Inside the bay is your best bet for finding a mixed bag of fish (large and smallmouth) in fairly shallow water. It doesn't get quite as windy there, but it still can get rough.

This map should help you with finding a boat ramp.
