Pretty new to fish finders, just bought a Lowrance Elite 5ti with TotalScan. I won't have it ready to go until next weekend but was looking at Youtube to learn how to use, also saw doctor Sonar sites where he sells videos.

Any recommendation on Dr. Sonar video's and are they worth it, also any recommendations on good sites on youtube to watch how to set up and interpret fish finder.

Thanks

I just got an Elite 7ti.. I was able to learn everything I needed off YouTube. I never had any sonar before except some crappy one that came with my old boat. Don't spend your money on Dr. Sonar.. plenty of free info out there

I second not bothering with Dr. Sonar. There are a ton of good videos on it on youtube, they're just by different people and hard to find because yt's search algorithms are horrible. This forum should have a sticky that lists the best videos because this comes up a lot.

A few that I know of:

But honestly after a few videos it's not much help. Most of everything else to learn is in the device's user manual and from your experience fishing with it.

I've been learning to use my new 7 Ti from youtube and articles and forums. One thing I have found very helpful is taking screenshots, of everything that looks remotely interesting. That way I can go back and study them in detail, and I usually find things I didn't notice on the water but now I know what to look for next time I'm out!
